Hello I'm trying to install the GOG Galaxy client and keep geeting "The Source File is Corrupted" when I get to the installation point. I have attached the relevant logs:

2025-02-07 17:09:34.132 CurStepChanged raised an exception (fatal).

2025-02-07 17:09:34.132 Message box (OK):
Runtime error (at 126:59):

The source file is corrupted.

I can download and install other things just fine. I tested other browsers, offline client installer, running as admin, etc. with no luck. I am running 64 bit Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2. Any help would be appreciated!

Have tried downloading the entire client a 2nd time? Perhaps testing on a different pc, to rule out whether it is your pc or the client?

Perhaps it is UAC in windows, depending where you try to install it to.

If you want to, you install some stuff yourself, for both 32 and 64bit, by each edition.

If you save them, make folders for each one. Otherwise it will be a mess. Same file names.
Have you tried living without the client? It's really, and truly optional. Detrimental, some might say.

ltcg87: Can't Install GOG Galaxy Client
Going by everything I read from time to time, here on the forum, about Galaxy, you may consider yourself lucky, that that piece of software won't install on your PC.

I've done a fresh download for the last 10 install attempts with no luck. I was able to download and install on my laptop so it looks like its my PC.

I don't think its UAC, its set to the normal recommeneded and I'm on an admin account and have run it as admin.

Could you elaborate more on the VC redist and making folders? I have a feeling the path is the issue. I have a lot of programs installed for school that involve coding so I may have messed something up. I've done a fresh install for VC with one or both (x86 and x64) with no luck.

Well I noticed the client tried to install that program. It is needed by a bunch of games. So I figured if you get that installed, it will be one less problem for you.

As for the individual folders. It is because the files all have the same name. So to structure a folder system to match each file with what it really is, would help you.

example:
Visual Studio 2015-2022
x86
x64

^^^^ add the files to the folder it goes with. The go down the entire list getting each file and detail the year and subfolders in x86 and x64 accordingly. After each file is structured, install all of them. Then you are covered. I would also recommend
getting the .Net stuff as well. V3.5 is a little tricky to install though.

Then again, you may need to figure out whats wrong with your pc first.

• Install both vc_redist.x86.exe and vc_redist.x64.exe then restart your system.
• Download the latest full installer, setup_galaxy_2.0.80.33.exe. Make sure it's fully downloaded. It should be 288,029,680 bytes in size with F6C4FAC121DC744200053A4679B406EB as its MD5 checksum.
• Check if there's enough free disk space on drive C: and wherever the temp folder and paging file are kept, if they're on different drives.
• When you run the installer, check if your antivirus is placing any of the extracted temp files in quarantine.
• If the problems persist and you haven't already done so, open a support ticket.
I am having the same issue Runtime error (at 126:59). I have followed the steps mentioned before but nothing has worked so far.

I reached out to GOG support and they gave me the link to a full installer (2.0.80.33) but I still run into the same issue. Has anyone been able to fix this?

You even tried to "Not use the client"?

My less sarcastic suggestion: Why not use Heroic instead? https://heroicgameslauncher.com/downloads

I could actually just download the games and play them like that, but I guess the cloud saved would not work, but I am not sure.

Tbh it is the first time I hear about the Heroic games launcher so no idea.

In any case I managed to install the GOG Galaxy. I needed some input from GOG tech support. I will put here the summary, just in case anyone else can use it in the future:

[05-Mar-25 00:23:06] [error] [HttpWebResponse] Sending event failed: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

It looks like the installer is being blocked from downloading the app data. In order to address this issue, please follow the steps provided below:

1.Please be sure that your antivirus software / firewall settings aren't preventing the downloader from reading / writing data on your device.

2. Please try to disable your IPv6 protocol. Should the issue persist, then please re-enable it again:
https://networking.grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleid=17573

3. Please perform a DNS flush:
https://www.wikihow.com/Flush-DNS

4. Go to your Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. Now select your device and use right button on it to go to Properties. Next please click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and press Properties.

Usually, as default settings there should be "obtain an IP(/DNS) address automatically"
CAUTION! if you can see any IP addresses, in the window that you will open, please make sure to note them or to make a screenshot of that window, as these will be necessary to revert the changes!

Now please select "Use the following DNS server address" and use following:
for Preferred DNS server: 8 . 8 . 8 . 8
for Alternate DNS server: 8 . 8 . 4 . 4

Click OK on all windows, and please restart your computer.
Check if the issue will persist.

To revert such changes, please follow these steps once again, but change to "Obtain DNS server address automatically" or type an IP address that was there before and restart your computer.
After following these steps I managed to install GOG Galaxy, but when installing from a game. In my case I was trying to install Cyberpunk ("Install game with GOG Galaxy" in the gog web). If i tried the full installer it did not work.

Hope this will help others
