Trying to install Two Worlds Epic Edition. First I try to install directly (without using GOG Galaxy) but it doesn't give me an option to change the install location and just decides on it's own to install the game on my small SSD drive that is for my OS only. Ok..let me uninstall and try again..maybe I missed it? Nope. No option. So I install GoG Galaxy and now can change the install location. Yay I guess. Never heard of a program installer that doesn't give you the option of where to install. Mind boggling.

Ok now I'm installing the game via Galaxy and I keep getting a Directx SDK window/password prompt. I enter my Windows password and the Directx Setup immediately fails with "Invalid command line switch". I can hit OK and it tries to keep installing but then I get the same prompt again and the same thing happens. Eventually the installation fails with a configuration error.

EDIT: I actually got the game installed. On 4th install attempt I was prompted to either remove/repair/install some NVIDIA PhysX option. I selected repair and the install completed finally. Now when I launch the game it's in a tiny window. When I try to change the resolution the game crashes. Anyone know of any solutions?

Is this just issues with an old game not working with Windows 10 or does anyone know what is happening here? I'm not a huge Steam fan but I have *never* had so many issues with Steam and I have purchased/installed/played dozens of games there and using GoG I'm at 2 out of 2 for game install issues.

on a side note
i dont know about steam reliability, i have more than 10 games on there that dont work and only one or two here
Ok, I don't have Two Worlds: Epic Edition, but so far, every installer let me choose the install location and it is even remembered when I install the next GOG game, so I only had to change it once. No idea why you should not be able to do that. Normally (which means in every single GOG installer I have ever used) you need to click "Options" in the very first step of the installation, left from where it says "Yes, I have read and accept EULA".

Ok, over the same old topics again. The plain installer files you can download from the store site have an options window, when you open it then you should see it at the bottom left of the installer. In there you can select where to install to. In this box, and this goes for any piece of software, make sure you install to a location Outside Windows folders, if you instal to program files or the other one you will encounter problems.

As for your resolution issue, change it in the options menu.

You may also want to look at the WorldMerge mod for this, it combines the expansion into the main game.

Did you look hard enough? See the attached picture (twoworlds.jpg).

I don't know if the installer behaves differently in Windows 10, but at least in Windows 7 those are the installer screens I get. Red circles and arrows were added by me though, for a dramatic effect.

I am changing the resolution in the options menu. No matter what resolution I select the game crashes. Not finding a solution to the issue.

When I get home, I'll see if I can get a chance to try installing it on my Win10 rig. I'll update here if I can.

Thanks for the offer but I did get it installed finally. The problem I'm having now is that I can't change the resolution to anything without it immediately crashing.

Yeah, I saw that, but thought I'd give it a shot and see if I have that same issue (the resolution problem). If not, and it installs and works no problem, then I can report to you the steps I took to install it and maybe you can uninstall and try the same thing.

Okay, just installed on Windows 10 Home 64 bit. I ran the installer as Admin (right-clicked on the .exe and ran it as Admin that way). When it started up, I clicked on Options on the installer screen and installed to my secondary game drive, which is H:\, so the installation went to H:\Two Worlds.

Once it was installed, I fired it up without issue and as soon as I got to the start screen, I chose Options and changed the resolution in there to 1920x1200 (my monitor's native). Created my character and went through the intro movies without any issues. Went into the first dungeon area (the tutorial, I guess) and killed the two Groms.

So it seems to work fine on my rig. Perhaps your antivirus interfered with your install, or maybe it's something else. But at the very least, I can confirm you can install and change the resolution without problems on Win10.

Hope that helps.

Best pop in a support ticket. Sounds like you have something special. You did install outside windows folders yes, and you have the right directx? And you just setting to a stand res not some 4k size or something?

Welcome to the new Steam.

@OP: There's a reason why Win10's marketshare is still vastly below Win7 and still followed by ye olde WinXP.

Win10 sucks for gaming in addition to spying on you on every occasion, get a proper operating system.

Thanks for taking the time. Not sure why I can't change the resolution. I do have a 2k monitor but it even crashes if I set it to something other than 2k resolution. Oddly, the 2k resolution option is there so I would think it's viable anyway.
Also, the only anti-virus I run is Windows Defender and haven't ever had an issue with that interfering with anything.
