legal way". Joining a Discord server and "working" for a chance to get a key for the game is NOT any more "legal" than going to those so-called "dodgy" sites you mentioned and downloading a copy of it.
I have nothing against Mr. Cordes. And if you (or anyone else) feels that your "truth" is "the right way" by all means go ahead and knock yourself out. You guys have every right to do as you please.
But the game IS NOT a Senscape property.
Mr. Cordes has no legal rights to distribute the game. What's that? I'm wrong, you say? Then by all means...PROVE ME WRONG, Perry Mason.
Scratches is in a legal limbo. Unless someone can acquire the rights to it right now anyone can get a copy of it through any means they deemed fit. And there's NOTHING you nor Mr. Cordes can do about it. So if "Mary" wants to go join a Discord server for a chance to get a Steam key for the game, she can. And if "Charlie" wants to go to dodgysite.com and download a copy, he can. And if I want to create a site to provide free copies of it...guess what? I FREAKIN' CAN.
And yeah, ofc I'm oversimplifying. It isn't as easy as it sounds. But it kinda is too. LOL

Asylum. It isn't good for the game, it isn't good for Senscape and it isn't good for Mr. Cordes. You should've dropped the whole thing a couple posts back. SMH
