MarkoH01: I never used the family filter at all or is there another setting I am not aware of?
If I remember correctly, "Mature Content" is off by default and you'll need to enable it yourself.

Ah, did not even know about this. All checkboxes of type of games to be shown were already ticked ... but at least I was now finally able to disable those stupid warnings :)

MarkoH01: Also it seems as if the Steam page cannot be accessed at all from Germany which is VERY weird especially since Germany has much more problems with violence than sex.
German authorities have actually been getting much more strict about this kind of content in recent years - while, oddly enough, violence has fewer and fewer problems getting past the censors.

Not sure if it applies to Huniepop 2, but Steam did regionlock everything in the "Adults Only"-tag for German IPs, because they received complaints from the "Medienanstalt Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein". This happened in late December.

Are you sure? At least in movies I have not noticed this yet.

This is crazy: "Diese soll schon mehrfach die freie Zugänglichkeit pornografischer Inhalte (z.B. auf Screenshots der Infoseiten) bemängelt haben"

They complained about "free access to pornographic content" ... do they even know what a porno is? I only need google and have REAL pornographic content in mere seconds. That's ridiculous!

However as you can read in the article it was Valve's decision to lock those games for Germany since the Medienanstalt has nothing to say.

Granted, that may just be my subjective impression of the situation, so I might just be wrong, but over the past few years, I rembember a number of reports about anime and games getting refused classification by the FSK or USK because they objected the sexual content. Again, I might just be misinterpreting this.

Darvond: But I don't exactly this developer to go for careful wording, but instead a more "Punch Out" style approach. (Everyone is an offensive cultural stereotype, from Vodka Dunkinski to Pizza Pasta.)
I don't know, I think they're shooting for subtle here. For example, if watching the video carefully you'll notice next to one of the girl's baggage "Busted Vadge" the developers COULD have gone with a picture of a roast beef sandwich but instead...

... oh, wait no. That's a roast beef sandwich.
avatar
Orkhepaj: why would anyone want to play this?:O
Lots of reasons. 2 for every girl.

Just kidding: it's apologetically vulgar, it has humor, it causes amusement in those ways, and can be used as an interesting conversation starter among perverts. My GF and I had conversations about the first game, even.

You have to udnerstand , too, the Dev has a history of making mobile games and facebook games. In some ways it's parody of that while he simultaneously uses it to scream profanities at the industry by saying "i made this vulgar, and i don't care. No more of the shit like Mafia Wars where we do violent things but at the click of a button hiding the user from all the shit that they are, presumably, causing, thus glorifying choices without consequences." I doubt the dev really thought about it that far at a conscious level, though.

amok: In any case, it seems that this time the censorship will be a toggle switch in the settings, so I see no reason why the gOg version will be different
avatar
MarkoH01: But if it really is just a toggle switch why is GOG saying that it is censored?
I asked twice now on Titter about confirmation of the possibility to uncensor the game ... so far nothing :(

Ancient-Red-Dragon: HuniePop 1 is literally unplayable because it has unbeatable (at least for average, non-eSports-players) timed "bedroom puzzles" in which you have less than 5 seconds successfully to perform a move before the ludicrously-short timer goes all the way down to zero and therefore you lose all your progress in those puzzles.

That's not even enough time simply to look at the screen to see where a potential move might exist, much less enough time actually to perform the move too.

This makes it impossible to progress past those parts of the game.

Dozens/hundreds of people pointed this out to the dev, starting 5 or 6 years ago. But despite all that massive feedback, the dev's response was that they don't see an issue...and they did absolutely nothing to patch it...in other words, they deliberately left the game permanently broken forever.

I have hundreds of games on GOG, not all of which I like, but HuniePop is perhaps the only one where I feel like I've been outright scammed as a result of having bought it.
avatar
MarkoH01: I am far from being a pro gamer at all ... but I finished Huniepop 100% and had a lot of fun with it.
The secret is that bedroom puzzles are done differently than the regular puzzles. Since you have infinite moves, you just make matches and hope that one of those matches turns into a double or triple match. The idea is this part focuses on your ability to quickly identify a mach as quickly as possible without necessarily focusing on chains.

Censored only on GOG!

This place continues to find new ways to make itself look like a pack of pathetic cowards.

You mean like every single adult games that were here released since the last 5+ years. You are a little late to be offended by that.

The real question is how long it will remain uncensored on Steam given that they are incredibly censor friendly and inconsistent with everything with a remotely anime looking art-style.

Did you click the link in my message? It's not being censored on any platform except GOG, Steam is getting it uncensored. That's not the way it's been before now.

A DRMed platform is as bad as a censored one. I think Humble is a good option in this case.

Although uncensoring the game is easy and the means to do it provided by the dev...

Isn't humble just selling a steam key anyway? Not really any better that way either.

MangaGamer, Nutaku, Fakku, Jast USA nearly always release stuff uncensored, Humble is selling a Steam key. Steam started releasing stuff uncensored some time ago, but with very volatile rules for Anime-looking stuff, often re-censoring or even removing games on a whim. And Gog never released adult games uncensored (except some Larry one but they are pretty tame).

So yes, it's exactly the way it's been before now.

Even if DRM-Free games are now rare on HB, in this case it also has a DRM-Free version of the game to download, or so says on the store page. Indeed, I bought the first Huniepop there and always played that version.

Will it be censored?

The game will be fully uncensored (with an option to censor if you wish) on all stores with the exception of GOG. I still encourage players to purchase from GOG if that’s where they like to play games, because the censored version can be uncensored pretty easily with an external patch (explained below).

How can I uncensor a censored version of the game?

All you have to do is download the external uncensor patch file below and place it in the same location/directory on your computer where the game executable file is. Then, the next time you start the game, it will automatically recognize and apply the patch.

Uncensor Patch (copy this link and paste it in your browser’s address bar):
https://www.huniepop.com/patch/HP2SteamyPatch.dat

On GOG, you can find where the game executable file is located by going to the game’s page from within the GOG Galaxy client, clicking the options button at the top, expanding “Manage installation” and then clicking “Show folder”. On Windows it will be called “HuniePop 2 - Double Date.exe” and on Mac it will be called “HuniePop 2 - Double Date.app”.
