No Man's Sky: Beyond free content update is coming DRM-free on August 14th.

Jumpstart your engines by getting No Man's Sky 50% off until August 21st, 5 PM UTC.

Beyond will contain three major updates rolled into one larger free release. These changes are a mix of features Hello Games have been dreaming of for a while, and a reaction to how they have seen folks playing since the release of NEXT.

An expanded online experience will bring a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Meanwhile, VR support will bring the entire game experience to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update will soon be ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.
50% off and still 30€?

I'll wait for 90 I guess. :P
How will the VR support be handled? Isn't this SteamVR, so we'd need Steam for that?

I'm not sure about the details on No man's sky, but as far as I know Vive and Oculus aren't tied to a platform, such as STEAM.
VR is great if you already have it, though personally, this would be the game I'd buy it for, MMOs I could care less for so I'm waiting to see what the third update has in store!

Either way, props goes to HG for their iron clad dedication to their customers/fans!
This is really exiting! Can't wait.

falloutttt: Well yeah, it's a bit grindy. BUT, that seems to be the case at first.

Without spoiling much for you, there are ways to pretty much skip the whole grindy-gameplay. It may take 10 hours, maybe even more, depending on how you play.

rtcvb32: Reminds me of Noah Antwiler talking about FF13. (Going from memory)

'it gets good 40 hours in'
"I don't want it to take 40 hours to become fun! It should be fun right away!"

The more grindy it is to slow progression and make a game seem longer, the less inspiration and good gameplay vs what they could have added. If you enjoy the grind that's one thing. But if it's merely there to make it say '80 hours of storyline gameplay' while only say 3 hours of it was actually anything plot/story related and the rest is to hit some arbitrary number before you can advance.
OK. The grindy part of the game to you, is what ? Gathering the resources ? well, yeah it may take time to mine with basic equipment you get at the start.

But, like I said, it depends what you do. For example, you can find a planet with "Archaeological Treasures" that you can easily dig and sell the treasures for insane amount of money.

And with all that money, you can buy any resources you may need. Upgrade your equipment or get new better ones. And just like that, the grindy part ends. You can build a teleport on that planet to come back to anytime if you need more money.

And that's just one of the many things you can do to boost your budget.

schoolruler: Are we able to play with our Steam friends?
I don't think so, sadly. Since the difference between steam and gog's playerbase is huge, I wonder how hard will it be for us to cross paths with each other.

I mean, there's the social hub and all, but still.

At this point of the game I'm just wishing for two things. One, is the cross platform play, and the other one is a fix after all these years, to their UI getting stretched out on ultrawide resoltions.

And now for something completely different...
They've been doing a great job improving on the game, but I hope they address some of the bugs that affect older saves, I've been stuck on my main save for almost two years because of two quests requiring you to construct things they never gave you the blueprints for, the weapon terminal blueprint not appearing seems particularly common, and I have both that abd another missing blueprint.
It's just a bummer to let go of that save with so many planets explored and ship and visor upgrades because of bugs that seem like they could be addressed.

Aren´t there some console commands, so you can spawn these items and move on?
Of course, that wouldn´t guranatee there aren´t other things that might be incompatible between your saves and newer versions.

To answer your question, the answer is no, but I have no idea if the new update might do anything to change this. Even on steam the only way to join seems to be sending invites to friends.

I haven't found anything like that, only seen a few people mentioning hex-editing their save files to give themselves the missing blueprints, but I'm not sure I'm up for that.

That´s a bummer :( . I understand, I wouldn´t do that either.
