The idle animations are a little over the top, but apart from that, I like what I see.

The game centres on the community of Oakheart, and follows multiple characters who are in the sights of the psychotic serial murderer known as Teddy, who dons a clown costume for his killing spree, and is also apparently under the sway of a Lovecraftian beast.
Players will step into the shoes of Eric, Ethan, Rose, Tyler and more unique characters in order to see who will survive.

Players will explore the town of Oakheart, including the nearby police station, a ranger station, camp areas, and Teddy’s own home.
The more players explore, the more they’ll discover that there may just be more to the town of Oakheart than they thought.
The game will also borrow cues from Clock Tower, as you’ll have to hide from Teddy in closets and the like in order to escape.

Terror at Oakheart is a side-scrolling, pixel-art adventure horror game reminiscent of Lakeview Cabin Collection.

In a small town, that bears a striking resemblance to the creepy suburbs of Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street, you play as one of a group of over-eager teenagers trying to uncover the mystery of Teddy, a vaguely Lovecraftian, absolutely terrifying clown-teddy bear-type monster man on a murder spree.

It looks a bit like Terraria or Stardew Valley, but as your characters get killed off one after another – and you get closer to the truth about Teddy – it becomes gradually clear that this is one of the best-looking and also funniest indie horror games available to play.

Maybe they should have called it Terroria, though.

I just don't see how is having all my characters predestined to die fun. If that makes me a square, or any other geometric shape for that matter... >shrug<

I mean, usually nobody manages to play through a game without dying (several) times, right?

The only difference here is, that every death (up to a predestined character?) is deliberate.
So, here playing as Eric, Ethan, Rose, Tyler, etc., would basically be the equivalent of different levels in other games.

And in each level (= one particular character's playtime), you learn something on the way to the end game (the boss fight?), that will help you defeat Teddy.

Mind you: I don't own the game, so I can't know if that's what actually happens in the game, but that's one possible interpretation that I can think of.

More than that in many cases, but those deaths are what I'm supposed to avoid. That's the whole point. I finish a level by not dying. I just don't see how having all of my characters die, and that being something predestined that I have no input into as a player, is a fun mechanic. If it does sound like fun for someone, great power to them, but to me it sounds like I don't even need to play the game if everyone's gonna croak anyway. It would be a whole different ballgame if every character dying was an open possibility depending on how I play the game.

But then I don't like slasher movies, so I guess maybe that's a perfect gaming rendition of a genre I just don't get.

I guess that depends entirely on how it's implemented.

But again: I don't own the game (naturally, since it isn't released yet), respectively I haven't played the DEMO, so I can't say, if it is fun to play (though the statements of people who have played the DEMO suggest, that it is fun indeed).

I like 80s slashers, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I guess, we all will simply have to wait for the finished game and its reviews, to see whether it will end on our game shelf.
Until then it's all mere speculation anyway.
