Continuation of review on Shopsite of DW2 (I had to link it to here due to space-limitations on the shopsite :()
... I have to add that some of the other players (but not all, because some, including me, also didn't have any severe problems at all) had much more serious problems with the game, or even still have (from empty windows/messages to not beeing able to play the game at all) - the forums on MatrixGames and Steam show enough of those complaints and issues.
And therefore I would lable this release (in retrospect) as very premature, because it turned out that the Devs (and all the Beta-testers) had missed to test the game enough beforehand). :(
- But, on the other hand, I also would like to point out that the same Devs (a comparably little Indie game studio) since then are trying continuously and with mere unmatched effort to fix all those bug and issues in almost no time and to make this game as enjoyable as it was intended from the Devs. (They have published about ten big patches in just about 2 weeks after the release and managed not only to solve many problems, but also to read all the postings in the forums and to honestly communicate with all the gamers as much as possible - again this can be found in several forums on MatrixGames and Steam). That's really remarkable, in my opinion. :)
Therefore I still do have faith in the Devs and believe that they do what they can to make this game great again. - There are even extensive infos/files and a detailed roadmap for all the modding- and gameplay-possibilities that shall be added/improved over time, once those serious technical problems have been solved.
I'm certain, when this is all done that DW2 will be THE huge and innovative 4X space-strategy game for me, just like its predecessor DW1 after some years of post-release treatment by those decent and hard working Devs.
- And for now, even with all its problems and missing features, etc., I think it's a great playground in / outside a game (with modding) that shows mere infinite potential for the years to come. :)
