Crowsworn caught my attention, and it looks really good. Much in common with Hollow Knight, but with different mechanics and weapons. Cool trailer too. I've backed it, and look forward to it arriving in around two years. Will be released for Windows, Mac and Linux, and the new consoles. Said they are in discussions with GOG, so I really hope I can get the game from here.

I've not watched this, it is freakishly long, but there was a stream the other day with developers of this game, plus ConcernedApe, the developer of Stardew Valley. With a lot of time to kill, it may be interesting.

They blew past the funding goal in a matter of hours, and are currently on the way towards another stretch goal at 600,000 CAD.

(Seriously, what is wrong with the URL thingy here.... it keeps adding crap that I didn't write)

The next game from Stuck In Attic, creators of Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventures will be crowdfunded again.

It is Near Mage and the kickstarter just went live

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stuckinattic/near-mage

When I told them that it is nice to see GOG mentioned in the kickstarter campaign they confirmed that GOG told them that they want to have them. So if this is funded it WILL come to GOG.

Edit: Game is already funded and the first stretch goal: Linux Port has already been reached as well.
Thanks everybody for the support and I am happy for all the penguin supporters :)

This is quite amazing... looks like the game will make the 1 million stretch goal too. Less than 3 days to go now.

There is a board game in the works related to the video game Green Hell.
Sadly, Green Hell hasn't made it to GOG so far even though it's an amazing game and one of my favorites.
Maybe in the future?

Anyhow, I love the video game and this related board game just started on kickstarter looks pretty interesting too.
I would like to see it happening :)

Edit: Updated the URL, since they relaunched the campaign.

Peripeteia
(On track to get 100% funded, 28 days remaining)

Realms Deep 2021 Trailer

Peripeteia. Not merely a game, but a place. Immerse yourself in the newest Immersive Sim to be developed in the style of the classics.
Harkening back to Ion Storm and Looking Glass, as we offer you the chance to help be a part of; (and fund!) a dreamlike world in a future the past forgot.
You are Marie, a cybernetic agent born of the fallen old orders, turned mercenary for hire.
Become one with the ruins of a great and foreboding closed city. Inspired by the open level design, urban exploration and freedom of past Eastern European RPGs; yet blended with the complexity of System Shock 1 and 2.
You will explore, experiment, and execute your way through challenging and complex missions; requiring the use of your wits, skill and diplomacy to survive.
Welcome to Peripeteia.
Immersive Gameplay - Yes, you will be able to stack crates. And you will be able to throw them too, as a weapon (with the right augs…). That bottle over there? Toss it to distract the guard. 0451? It’s your password for when you want to hack the Second Union’s computers instead of assassinating their leader.
Massive levels - Become lost in a myriad of crumbling brutalist dreamscapes. The concrete hive will become your home- and you will become its master through agile and intuitive movement.
Wander. Plunder lost equipment and technology. Become one with your surroundings. Take every route. Find every hidden stash. Learn every secret. That is your fate.
Intense Shootouts - Peripeteia abandons the notion that an ambitious game should compromise on clunky combat. Aim an arsenal of experimental Eastern weaponry down the sights and pull the trigger. Watch as bits of steel brain go flying. A fine kill, agent!
Inventory Tetris - Every magazine, every bullet, every lightbulb and bottle, is not only beautifully rendered but present in real space, in real time, in your inventory. We have used the latest in lost Soviet technology to realistically bring your kit to life, for you to sort through, manage and meticulously organize- as a burst of PKM fire grazes your skull from behind cover.
An intense story- that you will tell. You are as much a part of Peri as Peri is a part of you.
Living within the ruins of a fallen empire, you will interact with new powers, make new friends, then kill them. Your choices will have consequences for those who subvert, those who fight, those who preach, and those who murder. Through your actions, you will directly influence the fate of this derelict world, and the fate of those who wish to control it.
The best God damn soundtrack you’ve ever heard - Comprised of over six artists original works, Peripeteia is an auditory heaven of mist, rain and tears. Each grimey, gritty second within Peri's city is painted audibly with talented break and techno beats you need to pump blood through your veins.

Orphan of the Machine

Gameplay

Orphan of the Machine is an adventure game for current/next gen consoles and PC. It's being developed by the creator of Final Star and Pirates of First Star (games released on the Xbox One).

The story takes place during the 60's - in the middle of (a fantasy take on) the Cold War. Russia, in their growing paranoia, begin developing cities underwater to hide from the threat of American espionage. Their construction disrupts sea life, and as the game begins, a baby dolphin wakes to find her entire family gone.

The flow of Orphan of the Machine is very natural. What would you do if put in this situation? Where would you go? Instead of just placing markers on the map telling you exactly where to go, we let you explore and figure out what it is you want from the game. Do you believe your family is still alive? Could you find them? Could you seek out a new home? A new family even?

The sea is one huge simulation. Every creature has a reason to exist - and a motive. You'll have to learn what these are to coexist - or to benefit from certain underwater life. Being aware of your surroundings is important. A lack of smaller fish could let you know that something dangerous is ahead. Even plant life can be an indication as to what's around the corner.

The game plays similar to a Metroidvania. The screen scrolls in all directions (in a 2.5D space) and there's a map to track your progress. You will need to collect certain items or abilities to get to new areas. As you grow and get deeper into the world, combat will become important to survive the most vicious of predators.

You'll have a lot of freedom to explore. One of the biggest design inspirations for this game is the original Metroid. Recent games in that style have become a bit same-y. You enter an area. Fight a boss. Get an item that lets you go to the next area. Repeat. One of the things that made Metroid so great was that there were really only a couple of items you HAD to have to progress - and one of them (the Morph Ball) was acquired at the very start of the game. Orphan of the Machine takes a similar approach to game design.

Prometheus Wept: A Post Digital Turn Based RPG

Kickstarter Video

Prometheus Wept is a turn based RPG set on a near-future earth where the majority of our digital technology and digitally stored information has been destroyed. The game offers hardcore squad-level combat, with simultaneous battles between cyberspace and the physical world, meaningful choices, deep character progression and an advanced crafting system.

It also has the distinction of likely being the only game where you can incapacitate an enemy by dropping a shark on them! Prometheus Wept is the third game by Timeslip Softworks and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Demo on Indie DB

The goal is to create a relatively short, 10-16 hour experience, with an emphasis on design, variety, story-telling and quality over quantity.

Setting

Imagine a near future earth where technology has become increasingly integrated with daily life. Imagine the sudden corruption of all this technology, in less than a day, by a potent computer virus. A virus which affects everything from the smart kettle in your home to communications systems, automated agriculture, manufacturing and the transport network. Imagine the widespread loss of life, generations of chaos and conflict, the loss of knowledge, and the fragmentation of nations into insular city states.

The events of Prometheus Wept occur some generations after the Event, in a strange, depopulated, low tech world where human communities huddle in the ruins of the mythical mid 21st century, wary of old world technology and surrounded by chaos.

Not all digital technology was destroyed by the virus. Simple devices experienced software corruption and hardware failure. A small number of more complex systems were modified through their contact with the virus, gaining the potential to evolve. These first true AI are beginning to emerge, resulting in conflict with nearby human communities whom the AIs cannot understand, nor be understood by.

Chains of Fury

Kickstarter Launch Trailer

Chains of Fury is a Metroidvania Boomer Shooter inspired by Hellboy & Lobo comics and XIII, Void Bastards games.

Our game is heavily influenced by many retro FPS games but the main inspiration for our mercenary remains Duke Nukem 3D from 1996. At those times it was a mind-blowing experience. Years later it still is. Now 25 years after aliens made a terrible mistake of shooting down Duke's ride but his heritage is still alive now.

Gameplay Overview

If you’re looking for another “save the world, become a hero” copy-paste story, move along as there’s nothing to see for you here. Because here you’ll get the chance to become the meanest bastard this earth has ever carried, whose testosterone can only be measured in the amounts of bullets you share with those standing in your way. You are a hired gun. Your former clients put you in prison instead of paying you. That was their last mistake. You will find them and you will get your money back. No world-saving, no zero to hero bullshit, no mercy. It’s nothing personal - it’s just business.

MAIN FEATURES:

* Destructible walls - you don’t need keys as almost everything is destructible.

* Hidden Secrets - loads of easter eggs & secrets wait to be found.

* Retro-inspired - Duke, Quake, UT, Doom. We took inspiration from the best.

* Dark Humor - you'll recall times where FPS games could make you smile.

* Split-screen multiplayer - play with your friend or foe.

* Gore - This is going to be bloody. Shoot first, ask questions later.

Bring bloody mayhem to the alien scumbags. They puffed You on cash. They locked You up.
They will Die.

Remember, we are determined to finish the game, and we have the budget needed to do so. We are just so hyped to make it larger and better.

Above Snakes - Western-inspired Survival Base Building Game

Gameplay Trailer

Above Snakes takes place in a fictional world inspired by the American Wild West and boasts deep crafting systems, base building, and strategic gameplay. You have the ability to craft the world tile by tile and must ultimately unravel the secrets of a land consumed by mystery.

Corpse Creek, 1883. The darkness of the midnight sky was interrupted by a brilliant green light. The anomaly was followed by a flurry of stones aflame that fell upon this otherwise quiet town. Folks stormed from their homes, dazed by the sky illuminated up above. It didn’t take long for the first of the meteors to reach the earth with a massive bang.

Those who survived took their loved ones to the graveyard of Corpse Creek the following day. As the bodies lay freshly buried and the local preacher, Noah, gave his last blessing, the ground rumbled.

A hand burst from one of the graves, reaching towards the sky.

While folks were quick to pull their firearms free, they were unable to fight the loved ones they only just buried. But they would soon discover that those that had arisen were no longer human.

Gameplay

Above Snakes differs from other survival games as the world is not pre-generated; you have the power to generate it yourself! The land is constructed via isometric tiles and contains elements of differing biomes, randomized attributes, and special abilities that adjacent tiles may benefit from.

You will need to make strategic choices regarding when and where to expand your world as you have a limited selection of tiles with some being more rare than others.

Carefully consider the resources required for continuing on in the world and invest your goods wisely. You can get an idea of future tile options by using your map. The map indicates climate regions and provides you with useful information like where to continue the main story or where to find worthwhile side quests.

Following every journey, you can return to your main base located on the center tile of the world. If you die during your journey, your explored world is reset and you wake up at your base, ready to explore once again.

Noticed this a couple of days ago, asked the creator via DM if the release of the game will be DRM-free ("it will be open-source, moddable") and if GOG release is planned ("will be distributed on Steam, GOG, and by private website"). Hopefully it is correct information and the project gets enough funding.
