Magmarock: I prefer to use a virtual machine since running Windows apps natively on Linux never sat well with me but perhaps I'll give it another try.
A virtual machine may have also improved, but I've found that bare metal + sandbox is better than virtual machines.

I use VMware it's much better than virtualbox, you get what you pay for.

Magmarock: well I can't use it, it's only for Steam last I checked.
I've been using the Heroic Games Launcher in Linux and it APPEARS that you have a choice when running a game between Proton or Wine.

might be worth checking out. The more familiar you get with Linux the more you can do with it.

I personally prefer Lutris, but mainly for the occasional odd Dosbox game. Heroic also is one of those bloated electron apps, which always makes me feel a bit odd.
