Anyone else playing DU here? Man this is painful, every second quest or so is bugged. Get quest to clear out monsters from building, go to building, no monsters there, loitering around for hours and no monsters. Get quest to impersonate another man and fight a duel, go find the man, have to go back to original town for fight, when I arrive the quest has disappeared off my log and fails the quest. Get quest to find flowers for someone's birthday, you can get flowers from X NPC at Y location, go to Y location and search the entire premises up and down but can't find X NPC, And now because of all these failed quests my reputation is so low that no-one will even talk to me.

The developers outright said that the DU alpha is in a great shape, better than classic DF, but this shit is borderline unplayable.

So basically Daggerfall Unity is a faithful re-creation of the original Daggerfall. The thing that stood out most about the original Daggerfall was how buggy it was.
Unity is damn buggy. Enough.
They have someone patching a whole laundry list of logic errors left over from the original (so it says on the dev site). But alpha-releases in my book always equate to "buggy as hell". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Funny, most people don't understand software cycles - let alone what alpha/beta means...

Damn someone beat me to the razor.
Is it a bad product because 'daggerfall unity is buggy' or because 'unity is buggy'. lol
Though i suppose i could go one step further and leave the problem as simply 'unity'.
And just now, I managed to find the flowers (southern) I needed for the quest elsewhere in a dungeon, but when I went back to the guy when you click on his sprite nothing happens, so I'm guessing that you NEED to get the flowers specifically from the NPC for the quest to finish. Big sigh.
I'm excited about it, but I'm also waiting for probably at least another year for them to call it "beta" before trying it.
@Crosmando

Please send a bug report to the devs. Alpha state suggests a lot of bugs need ironing out. As the roadmap suggests:
-More classic quest fixes (Jay_H)
-Continue fixing bugs and refining systems

Even Betas are typically very buggy, much less Alphas

and in AAA games world even Gold status (or v1.0) mean "game is buggy but gamers don't care so they will buy this hyped product anyway".

I believe typically only Bethesda's new releases are Alpha-level buggy :)
Daggerfall also lacks any form of marker for where you need to go to complete quests. So miss remembering where the quest was located, or who gave you the quest might cause plenty of false positive "bugs". When fast traveling to a dungeon(which is really the only way to travel), remember that when you arrive, the dungeon entrance is straight ahead. Even if you don't see the entrance, you must keep going forward until you locate the entrance. Because if you move the view left or right, there's almost no way to reorientate yourself, since the sprite work isn't varied enough.

Yes, but all others typically release in Beta-state. After all, why waste time and money on QA when you can use paying customers as beta-testers?

I've given up. Definitions are meaningless at this point. Public alpha release is an oxymoron, but since most games get one, I'm clearly not going to win that debate.
