Dzsono: Thus far it's only supported the Steam version and I only have GOG and CD-ROM, so I'm not sure. The changes are supposed to be quite significant, however. Whenever I hear that I presuppose compatibility is low :(
After looking into it, it seems like it is mostly a mod compilation of Shifter, Biomod (both as optional modes, along with vanilla. Shifter and Biomod change game mechanics), HDTP, New Vision, and some additional textures. So it has working versions of all those mods included as well as some additional from them. It just feels like they have a team of people and someone else did most of the work, as I've followed The Nameless Mod, HDTP, and New Vision for several years now.

Ok, that's disappointing. Especially restricting other peoples' work to only one platform. I'd like to think Caustic received funding from someone that wanted to push Steam. I can't imagine why they'd do this otherwise :/

Well, I saw they got permission to use the stuff in their release, at least the HDTP and New Vision stuff. I'd have to assume for the rest. It's an easy installer if I read it right, which HDTP only kind of has, and then you have to do some extensive .ini manipulation to use other mods with it. So the convenience factor is not to be overlooked. Not trying to disparage anyone here, the mod, even as a compilation looks absolutely fantastic.

As for restricting it to Steam, I doubt that was the intention. Perhaps they merely figured out how to get it working with Steam first since there are somewhat different methods to applying mods with Steam vs CD vs GOG.

It looks like they made some significant changes to the level design and placement of enemies, as well. >_>

Well, at least they're moving away from being Steam-exclusive, so that's good. Me, I'm waiting for the next release of the GMDX mod.
I didn't even know that there was such a mod for Deus Ex, so I'm exremely happy that it will also be available for GOG. Thanks for the heads-up!

It can be played unofficially.
I was happy when I saw it's getting official release.
I hope it will be compatible with GMDX mod.
What really confuses me about this, is that this is neither a stand-alone game, nor is it a remake or a remastered edition. It's a mod - a highly polished and well-made mod, but still a mod - so, is GOG going to charge money for this as a full release (which leads to the question of paid mods on GOG) or is it going to be a lower-priced piece of DLC, or is it just going to be added as a downloadable bonus extra for the base game itself?

LiefLayer: Will I still be able to use the original version?
I don't want to make a new wine port (I don't even know if Revision will be compatible with wine) and I think the original version is already perfect (I don't like changes made by Revision at all).
From a cursory search on Google, it should be compatible with Wine, if really what it is at its core is just a mod to the original game: https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/3onigf/deus_ex_revision_in_wine_a_guide/

Steam distributes this for free, so I don't think they'll charge money for it here. If they did, that'd be grade-A bullshit.

Most likely if GOG add it, it will be an optional extra / goodie like download available to those who have Deus Ex in their library
GOG should have a list of recommended MODS at the side of the games you purchase and download on their page, probably too much of a hasshle but I would certainl like it for Shadowrun
