Fender_178: Just like the now defunct Knight of the Old Republic mod that got shut down by Disney.

GameRager: TBH I don't get why: The devs don't keep most info secret until it's done to avoid this and drop it on torrent, or why they don't work on it in secret anyways.
Yeah I don't get it either. Maybe they are afraid of being sued that alone would scare anyone off since Disney has a ton of money. I know that I would be scared if I were in their shoes.

That's why ANYONE working on a game mod should keep it on the darkweb/hidden/etc and not tell anyone how to contact them or obtain such mods until it's so close to being released that even if they get a notice they can dump it on torrents and such and the companies can't do sh*t about it then.

Then people can spread it via various means.

Or heck, why don't people making mods who get notice either keep working on it in secret(it's not like they check these people's homes) and then drop it quietly or let others start working on it who haven't been served notices? :\

That said: I strongly admire companies that let others make fan mods/etc for their works as long as such people don't charge for them. They get more money and praise from me.

You do have a point. Maybe the devs could have made a website on the darkweb to post updates etc to. Yeah so do I. Companies like the people behind the Torchlight games encourage mod creation and even Bethesda is on board as far as creating mods go. Also mods add alot of cool things to a game.

Thank you.

Mods don't just add cool stuff and breathe new life into a game...for some they bring the game to someone's attention for the first time(who didn't know about it as of yet), and they also cause some to rebuy older PC games to play new mods and as such can give more revenue to rights holders and devs alike.

Sort of like how music clips and unofficial youtube videos bring awareness of bands to others who might spend money on their merch and music.
I skimmed and saw no one mention it, but you can play Diablo with this source port: https://github.com/diasurgical/devilution

They're currently working on hellfire support and it probably works but I haven't tried it myself.

This port alone is awesome. No more resolution issues or anything. Give it a try. It's just vanilla Diablo with modern necessities.

Nice find...you should check the subforum and see if there's a mod thread to add this to as well.
