Everything from Pac-Man to fighters, Time Crisis...quarters well spent. :D
I loved arcades but they just barely existed in this country and nowhere near where I lived in my youth. The most you'd get was the mobile arcade that came with the 'carnival'? (kermis) once a year. That was about it.

I'd love to have an arcade near (and the disposable income to spend it), it was really compelling with the lights and the sounds. Wouldn't really work well these days anymore I guess with consoles and the like taking their place.

Here are a few of my favourites:

Assault
Original and innovative, with a brilliant control scheme that I haven't seen used either before or since.

Terra Cresta
A classic. Spent many coins on that one back in the day.

Thunder Blade (sitdown version)
A great game with an awesome cabinet.

Tokyo Wars
Multiplayer deathmatch with tanks. Great fun, and very satisfying controls. Shooting that cannon felt good.

I may post more later if I think of any others.
abck - as easy as 1239.

Quite a lot of arcade games, but the one I remember most fondly is Quartet. I'm sure it doesn't hold up to memory, but as a shooter/platformer that could be single-player or coop with 4 different characters, it was a lot of fun.
I wasn't big on it, but it definitely got me into SNK games that I still enjoy on ..............emulator today. Particularly all the fighting games, World Heroes, Fatal Fury, King of Fighter.

I guess the two I played the most are Samurai Shodown and Aero Fighter II. Aero Fighter series is still my favorite shmup to this day,

I shredded ain Space Invaders, then later loved Cyberball. I also beat Double Dragon multiple times...Mike Tyson Punch Out too.
Yes.

I lived for the monthly trip to the arcade my father allowed, saving change for weeks. Then, all the arcades near me closed, and it was a drought until adulthood when arcade games made a return--or maybe they had returned and I was just not aware--and then I had kids and have a reason to sling tokens again.

There's so many titles that at one point or another were my goto game, THE game, or some new hotness my friends lined up for.
I just loved being in arcade, the noise and lights. It was like Las Vegas only you were ALLOWED to be there. I didn't have people telling me to get the hell out because I was a kid.

Of course there was always the asshole that got to your favorite machine and laid down 20 quarters on the edge of the screen to let everyone know he was going to be there for a while. :P

There's a special place in hell for that guy...
Loved them, spent way too much money on them as a kid.

Gauntlet, Defender, Kick & Run, Chase HQ, Bombjack, Ikari Warriors. Mr Driller, Rolling Thunder...on and on.
Pacman and Tron. I've spent so many quarters on those damn machines.. :)
Terra Cresta, Galaxian, Space Invaders, TRON, Pacman, Mr Do, Dig Dug, Star Wars... I've more or less lost track of all the games I used to play.

Mind you, I think I prefer things as they are now -- don't have to keep forking out the money each time I want to replay a game! :-)

EDIT: Although I must admit, I do sometimes miss the old arcade hall atmosphere.

Holy shit, the money I spent in arcades...

PacMan, Q-Bert, Pengo, Tempest, Galaga, Xevious, etc. (I sucked at the latter 3)

And pinball - how I love(d) pinball: Black Hole and the Black Knight: I owned those tables.

Eventually ended up working for the guy that owned the arcade. Good times.
Absolutely.

Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Galaga, Double Dragon, TMNT, Street Fighter II, Metal Slug. Even some pinball like Addams Family and Data East Star Wars.
