I just call 'em as I see 'em. And hey, my descritpion may be extreme, but the advice about Spelunky was honest, and if you play it I sincerely hope you have fun. I'll be the first to admit that, except for the "frustrating" part, Rogue Legacy fits that description I gave perfectly, and still I absolutely loved that game.

I don’t care that you love Doctor Who, but don’t try to claim that it’s never sucked. It has. It does. But real fans can still love something in spite of– no, because of its flaws."

I have it on Humble. Nice game, specially on the artistic side, it's really beautiful. Gameplay is OK, but this game was under active development until suddenly, in 2015, it just stopped dead and devs went mute. Strange and sad, since this game had potential to become quite good. Not that it is unplayable nor unfinished, but it still looks "beta", needing some further updating and polishing.

I would agree that it's a fun, surprisingly cool game for such an under-the-radar title (and what a [stupid] title!), but the fact that you can pretty much only unlock more levels by replaying (variations of) the missions you've already beaten annoyed me after a while. Another dumb choice was making an alternative gameplay viewing angle (top down, instead of iso) unlockable as a special perk or cheat, rather than just having it as an option from the get-go. Great destructibility in the levels, though, and a pretty good variety of (upgradable) weapons.
And the same devs also developed Crimsonland, which is on GOG.

Yeah, it was little annoying and a bit questionable as a design decision, but I didn't really mind it that much, since it gave me more of a motivation to try the level variations and experiment with all the possible loadouts, which I have to admit I probably wouldn't have done that much otherwise. I saw it as part of the challenge, and in general the level and objective variations were different enough for enjoyable replays, IMO. It did get a bit repetitive towards the end but not enough to stop me from trying. They could have been a little more lenient with the unlocks though. I was able to skip a few level variations I didn't like (mostly those with insane time limits), but not much else.
