I find GOG's forums not only a place where I talk with awesome people about games and many other stuff, but also a place where I polish my English at the same time. I know there are many people who aren't fluent English speakers here and learn some useful words/phrases/grammar structures while reading/writing here.

So I'd like to propose an idea of English Word of the Day. If you learned some new English word, phrase, saying etc. which isn't perceived as well-known by not native English speakers, please share it here. It doesn't matter if you found it on GOG's forums earlier or you learned it somewhere else - the idea is to share the words, so we can learn something new and useful! :-)

Let me start:

incessantly - constantly, nonstop :-)

to ball up (v. tr., slang) to ruin, to make a mess of

e.g. I really balled up my game by giving my sorcerer high intelligence instead of charisma. Now I have to start all over.

I'd like to propose the word "definitely", one of the most misspelled words of all times. Especially by native English speakers.

Things got so bad there's even a website about it:

*lol* I'm glad I'm not the only one who googled that incest-thing today ;P
scallywag
n
1. a scamp; rascal
2. (Historical Terms) (after the US Civil War) a White Southerner who supported the Republican Party and its policy of Black emancipation. Scallywags were viewed as traitors by their fellow Southerners

e.g : Damn you, you scallywags ! You stole all of my platinum pieces and my Lightning Axe of Disruption +2 !

I peeked at the hall of shame, it made me realize how spread this is. The weird thing is that I am sure nobody mispell 'infinity'.

Edit : A word I like in english that I think could be more used is 'scrumptious' (synonym of delicious). It definitely has a unique vibe, and for once, it's not a stolen latin word ;-)

Most peculiar word I came across recently was:

leotard

a close-fitting one-piece garment, made of a stretchy fabric, that covers a person's body from the shoulders to the top of the thighs and typically the arms, worn by dancers or people exercising indoors
Rapscallion - a disreputable person; rascal or rogue.

I thought that for a spanish speaker it would be quite easy because "incessant" is really similar to "incesante".
