Sorry for posting here in the general forum, but the Everspace forum has not been posted to in a few days, and with the ongoing sale, I had a question.

I thought I read on a forum, that the game does not allow you to save a game, and if you die, you go back to square one. Is that accurate? Or am I not understanding how the game works? Given the price and the graphics, it seemed like worth a try, but starting from square 1 all the time would be frustrating.

it's a roguelite in that you get to keep credits after you die. then the game has this blueprints system which I'm assuming you buy with the credits and perhaps also can unlock with secrets on your runs maybe. these blueprints then offer you upgrades which you can use to make the ship you take into successive runs stronger than the one you did previously. so it's the darksouls method.

then there is also crafting and upgrades you do inside a run because things like the guns you have and maybe extra bonuses to shields and hull strength and so on can be had during a run depending on what you find and craft or buy from merchants but those don't carry over.
When you die you lose everything except unlockables (ship colors, blueprints, glyphs, subroutines) and credits accumulated previously. Using these credits you can buy permanent upgrades and enhancements that you will not lose in case of death. Your ship should become better and better in every run, making you last longer before dying.

EDIT: Preempted by johnnygoging.
