....and on his farm he had some friends E-I-E-I-O!

Stardew Valley, the ultimate feel-good simulator about life in the countryside, has finally released a multiplayer mode.

You know what they say: the grass is always greener... when you tend to it with friends! Invite up to three other players to join you as farmhands, start a new playthrough together or continue from where you left off, and share the simple pleasures of village life. Help each other out with everyday chores and activities, converse using the new chat box, or perhaps get married! It can get lonely in the countryside, you know.

The multiplayer mode supports cross-play with all PC users via GOG Galaxy.

Note: Linux users can connect to other players using direct IP in the multiplayer options.
Finally! :)

It would be cool if this allowed for Hatfield McCoy. :P

Someone's cow gets too close to your crops...WAR!!!!

I do worship this game. I wish I had the internet to MP.

I love this game and its developer: they support DRM-free gaming, DRM-free multi-player (LAN and direct IP), Linux, free content post-launch (and without raising the price tag), and all of this for a low price.
The post doesn't mention it, but there are a bunch of new features for everyone (not just only in multiplayer), and some balance changes and big bug fixes, too.
Does the Windows version have a Direct-IP option? Or is that only for Linux?
Now I only have to wait until my mods are updated (granted, many already are as betas have been available for a long time, it shouldn't be a long wait).

Store page says that it is for every version. Linux probably gets a note since there is no galaxy for it yet.
"Multiplayer Notice: Multiplayer is available online via GOG Galaxy, as well as via LAN and Direct IP. All multiplayer connection methods are cross-compatible with the Steam version of the game."

I haven't checked myself, but the game card says this:

"Multiplayer Notice: Multiplayer is available online via GOG Galaxy, as well as via LAN and Direct IP. All multiplayer connection methods are cross-compatible with the Steam version of the game. "

EDIT: Fortuk was faster than me. :p

A very clever GOGite is trying to bring Galaxy multiplayer integration for those of us on Linux.

I'm tempted to buy it on here to test, but already have it on Steam. I think I'll wait for a sale.
Not my type of game, but credit where it's due for dropping this update on GOG at the same time as Steam's,
Time to buy a second copy!
Great content! Specially the Auto-grabber for barn animals, I thank Yoba for that.
Now, if I had friends to play with. Anyone interested just let me know!
