I've played the original Fate off and on for several years so I know that the original game had a cheat console which could be opened by ctrl shift ~ The version which I just purchased from GOG doesn't have seen to have it. I know Steam disabled the console when they released the game several years ago. My question is why doesn't the GOG version have the original game or did they just borrow the Steam version? I want my cheat console back - having to edit item.dat files to get what I want is a pain.

Nop, sorry mate, the console is not enabled.

If you have Cheat Engine, you should be able to modify at least the stats, skills, money, etc., if that's your goal. I have the game installed (GOG version) but haven't tried it since I'd forgotten how repetitive the game can be.

Guess nostalgia tends to fool with our memories lol.

If you want though, next time I boot up my games SSD, I can try it out and post the results. Some games don't use exact value to search for, I don't know if this is one such game. Personally, I prefer using mods, which made Torchlight 1 quite fun and right now not sure if Fate has any mods.

I have the Steam version but could not access the cheat console and found out Steam disabled it. I then found that there were other versions and the whole reason I bought another version is I wanted the cheat console. Now I have bought this one and still can't access the cheat console. I basically wasted my money. I want a version with the cheat console. I don't play this game without it. Any ideas on how to either get it to work on this version or where I can find a version that has it?

Is there some reason why GOG can't put the console back in for those buyers.... who like to mess with cheats... so they can get every bit of enjoyment, out of spending their hard earned money.

After I play a game... without cheats... I like to make it interesting and have a bit more fun, messing around with them.

If GOG is able to add the console... but chooses to not make this option available to those of us who enjoy, another way to play the game ... shame on you.

Agree totally with the above posts regarding cheats and others deciding whether or not I should be "allowed" to use them.

Game makers... get off your moral high horse and give me everything my hard earned $$$ can buy.
