but the last few (6) are free yes but incomplete a few examples.

Skylines, i think o that's so cool what you get is a very basic game the fuck is that good for they can keep it

Galactic Civilzations III again devoid of DLCs the crap

now they give free away's without DLCs total useless
begin of last year most give away where complete for example
borderlands II (complete)
Pillars of Eternity
or shadow runs. (all versions)

they should learn if they give something give the whole package or keep the crap

It's how to make money. It ain't a new tactic from dev's and/or pub's.

They (dev's or pub's) either cheap-out or give away the base game, just to get you in & hook you in.
And then they are more or less, trying to up-sell you to the Season Pass(es)/DLC's/Expansions separately.

I don't know if it's entirely up to Epic what version ends up on their store for a giveaway - but, they care mostly about $$. So, I don't know if they really care say which version's being giveaway on their store. They (Epic) probably has to make a deal and arrangement w/ the dev's and/or pub's on this one.

I'm really more concerned on Epic Store with...

1. Many games on Epic Store Launcher not having an offline-mode for single-player games or portions of games w/ Single-Player offline content - think Shenmue 3 on Epic - yet that probably works on GOG w/out any DRM or without Galaxy running when offline.

2. And/or the base-game only works without Epic Store Launcher closed for a Single-Player portion, but the Single-
Player DLC's actually do require the Launcher to be running...which also makes #1 ever more important when at least offline mode needs to work for the Launcher on games that are Single Player-based - think games like The Outer Worlds on Epic.

There is nothing 'new' at all about EGS giving away free base games only and not the DLCs with them. They've always done that.

There may be a few games that they didn't do that with, but even if that is so, that still doesn't make this be a 'new' thing, which it isn't.

I'm ok with that, if I like the game to the point of wanting the dlcs, I'd rather have it on GOG. The other day there was a free DLC on Steam, and the base game at 60%. These are all good incentives to make you buy something on a specific platform, and there's nothing wrong with it. My main problem with EPIC is how they and other AAA bigs predate on people who are addicted to loot boxes and such.

The same thing happens in every store, with the possible exception of Big Fish where they give 100% discount codes that can be freely used on anything. Of course, their goal is to make you a paying customer too, they just have a different method.

It was at that moment when people would rather complain about games given away to them for free instead of early access titles sold for 60 bucks and falsely declared as "finished" that I understood society could not be saved.

you are not forced to play them , btw most games are fine without dlc-s anyway
oh and if you want the games you have to buy the base game anyway they just give that for you for free
and if you actually like the game why not extend the gameplay with buying some dlcs?

I guess you never play a Paradox game.... if you did you would absolutely not said that.

Paradox published Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity and both of those where free on Epic with all the DLC included.

PoE and Tyranny ain't considered Paradox.... more Obsidian Entertainment + it was crowdfunded
