Nice! One more Final Fantasy game for PC. Can`t wait to play it.
Ah FF9, in my opinion the most underrated game of the series, a wonderful return to the classic fantasy meets steampunk aesthetics that drew me to the series in the first place. Also the last Final Fantasy title to have likeable characters

Too bad Squeenix are too busy circle jerking to DRM.

Chacranajxy: The fact that we got Revenant suggests that the line of communication is still open, so I have no idea what GOG or Square is waiting for.
GOG probably thinks Final Fantasy is too niche to pursue. :p

1. Final Fantasy 2, 3, 5, and 12 are also on the underrated list.

2. Final Fantasy is too niche yet they give us games Ultima 2.
That was about time! Imo, it is by far the best of the series (though that might be not saying much coming from me, since I have a very mixed opinion about Final Fantasy in general. I liked 4, 5, 6 and especially 9, but I also disliked all the others and hated with a passion 8 and 13. Never even thought about picking up more after 2010).
It finally dropped that near-futurish emo nonsense of 7 and 8 and reverted to the Japanese reimagining of western fables that in my opinion gave the seires its unique charm, managing to seem childish and humorous while also having some surprisingly deep moments.
It is really too bad that it suffered for being released a whole year after the PS2 came out, never reaching the fame it deserves for this. It reminds me a bit of Shantae, one of the best games for Gameboy Color but released after the advent of the Gameboy Advance.
Ah FF9. I quite liked it, despite the weirdly shaped characters lol.
I remember that I was trying to beat the hard bonus sphere boss, when my brother did something to the memory card and wiped all saves.
(that's why I never managed to finish some PS1 games T_T )

rtcvb32: 9 - more QTE-ish as I recall. never got too far in.
FFIX doesn't use the term "QTE" in its modern sense. What they mean by it is "optional cutscene".

Any kind of plea or threat that might bring SQE to think about GOG again...?

Great news starting 2016!! I quite enjoyed it and will surely re-purchase it again, after my CD then PSN editions.
Would definitively buy if released DRM-Free.

But since that's not even remotely likely to happen, don't really care whether it's on PC or not, since I already played it back in the day on PSX.
Why isn't it remotely likely to happen? Square-Enix already has a relationship with GOG, right? Why are their Japanese developed games specifically off-limits? What am I missing?

bela555: Am I the only one who cant follow which final fantasy is which one?
Wait so 6 and 7 don't come before 9? And 13 isn't a continuation of 9? And 15 is what?
My very first FF back then and still one of my very favourite ones of the series. I'm glad to see that it's finally to be released remastered on PC, so I will definitely buy it. Hopefully those games will come to GOG too some day...
More FF or other classic console RPGS on the PC is always good news(hopefully not a crappy port, too). However, I doubt I'll pick up any of them up unless they are on GoG. I've been holding on long enough from purchasing. I can wait longer until the games arrive here.
