I'm not sure who's aware of this news, but Square-Enix just announced that a remastered collection of the first 6 Final Fantasy games is being released soon. For the love of all that is holy ... PLEASE BRING THESE GAMES TO GOG!

One thing is certain: unlike some retarded AAA publishers (looking at you Ubishit and EAss) ate least Square is giving us some crumbs once in a while. Maybe we'll get a Final Fantasy game in 2028?

Notably, these are SE Europe (UK) or Collective (UK) games. Not the Japanese division. I'm inclined to believe GOG is able to establish contracts with these companies instead of Japan because they don't have a Japanese-based bizdev team.

EDIT: as a lifelong FF fan, this is good news if they include new non-roguelike content, QOL upgrades, and remake it for the new decade. But if it's the exact same 1-6 GBA/PSP remakes (now demakes?), then it's a hard pass for me. SE has been known to milk older ports time and time again with no notable upgrades. 12TZA vs 8r / Crystal Chronicles Remastered are examples of a huge inconsistencies of recent releases that makes their announcements such a gamble.

Well the one thing companies react to the most is sales numbers, if there games sell really well here they will bring more here...... would be nice to see what there records are for GOG.
How we will look when Square Enix brings a Japanese game here:

Please, avoid counting chickens before they hatch.

+1. Yes, please! ^_^
I wouldn't count on it, they've had every FF game on Steam for years and yet none are here.

Consider editing in links to the community wishlist entries. But I'm also skeptical like everyone else; the Japanese branch of Square Enix hasn't given us anything and that's unlikely to change anytime soon. I'd be happy with Squeenix Europe or whoever letting us have the new Tomb Raider games, especially Legend and Anniversary, but we only get dead franchises here. So all we can do is be sad and cry and peepoo.

If you haven't also already, it might be better to let Square Enix know on their own forums as well, since they ultimately decide where they sell their games. GOG unfortunately has no power to bring games to the store unless a publisher wants to sell their game here. GOG can make the phone call, but if gamers want to apply pressure on anyone to increase the chances of a game coming here they need to apply the pressure on the publisher as they're the decision maker.

Having said that, yes, it would be cool to see that come here. Square isn't big on DRM-free storefronts though so I'm skeptical about something like that happening, but it's certainly not impossible.
I've added a link to the wishlist for anyone who's interested.
Would love to see these here, but doesn't Square Enix like to use their own weird account system even for re-releases of their older stuff? IIRC one of the PS1 FF games on Steam has something like that.

Yeah, need an SE account to play 7 and 8. For 7, you need to be online when launching the game. For 8, you could play offline after making an account, but you won't get save syncs.

I feel like that might be a bit of an obstacle to a GOG release if they end up using that system for Pixel Remaster as well, but hopefully they'll either not use it at all or at least do like Bethesda did with their recent Doom and Doom 2 re-releases and make it optional.

Either way, at least the Pixel Remasters are a step in the right direction compared to the mobile ports of 5 and 6 that are currently on Steam. The new art style never quite clicked with me.
