It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

EverNightX: OK. But I was looking for how it might be better than lgogdownloader which also does that.

kohlrak: I don't remember but lgogdownloader i don't think went through your list of games and downloaded them all. Or maybe i'm thinking of a different one.
No, you are right. GOG downloader would accept a link from the website and add this to ones download list.

I actually like the interface, more than the one of other launchers. Just the idea of integrating other platforms didn't really work as promised. The plugins are outdated, the synchronizing takes way too long. And the "similar games" ad on a games page is completely out of place and not working properly anyway. For the deluxe edition of a kids game it suggests xyz editions of first person shooters and horror survival games. And for one adventure it recommended a bundle which the adventure was part of, even if I already owned all other games already that were included in the bundle.
I don't personally use Galaxy to install my games (since they are on another drive w/o internet), but it was a lot faster to use it for downloading the offline installers. Also, it seems to have solved issues I sometimes get of corrupted .bin files doing it manually.

As a bonus, I can walk away to do other stuff than trying to manually DLing (1 of xxxx) file at a time time lol. (You know the ones I mean, the 80+ GB games)

Also, does anyone know if there might be heat issues to destination SSD DLing such huge games all at once? That is one thing I do worry about, since the largest games I've DL'd so far I think were somewhere around 20 to 30 GB.

No, don't worry. It's not the ammount of data that can increase heat but the amount of data per second. And internet downloads don't even come close to cause the SSD to sweat lightly.

Try downloading 1 file at a time with games like Shadow of Mordor (160GB) :)

That's good to know, though one at a time might have it's own issues for larger downloads (at least in my case).

As I mentioned before I usually get at least one corrupted .bin file and for a 160gb game (aronud 40 files?) it'd kind of suck if multiple .bin files were corrupt. If the pre-stall verification caught them all, I could re-download all those individual files. But if it can't that'd be a problem. I think it was only more frequent late last year and this year.

But from your statement, sounds like I shouldn't have any issues doing it through Galaxy, given it should still be decently low and consistent data download speeds. At least that's what the way I interpreted it (correct me if I'm wrong). =P

Anyway, thank you for the reply. :)

Galaxy has been in beta FOR EIGHT YEARS. At some point you need to stop giving GOG the benefit of the doubt and admit it's been essentially abandoned.

Yeah, that's very strange indeed. I use gogrepoc to download and except for that one day when the servers truncated all files I don't have corrupted downloads.
It has been a while since I used a browser to download files, too much work :)
The Galaxy 2.0 is in open beta for 4 years now, and the only changes they made are the ads and the official Epic Games integration, the community integrations always have problems and most of them are no longer maintened, i don't see the point of a launcher that is supposed to show all your libraries is the integration are not working, they shoud have just keep the old 1.2 launcher.

GOG repo checks the downlods that have MD5. Would recommend if you have a large collection, but not all games have an MD5.

Not abandoned, but it's an age-old trick to call something "beta" or "alpha" to avoid scruitiny. The new one is "early access."

Firstly, there is already a recent active thread about Galaxy

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/whats_the_point_of_gog_galaxy

Why make a new thread except to get attention for a mostly empty post (rant)?

Secondly, if you don't like the command line, why own a keyboard (or a PC) at all? Get yourself a WASD mini-keyboard (or a console/Steam Deck) for gaming and leave all the big-boy decisions to the big companies who spend most of the working day thinking about your best interests.

I suspect Marko is just projecting for the hypothetical "typical user" which doesn't exist and also assuming that PC users shouldn't bother to learn the command line because typing commands is just too scary/difficult.

PC users have stopped to be a group of nerds a long time ago, the club is not as exclusive as it used to be. Most things don't require a keyboard.

And yes, the thread is just about ranting.
