I thought this might be fun: let's pick movies that go well with some games. Not movies based on games however, or movies that are part of the same overall franchise. I'm talking officially unrelated movies that have a similar setting, style, story etc. You know, something you can watch to stay in the same mood (or something you can play, if you're starting with the film).
For example:
Wolfenstein games - Overlord - a highly underrated little film from 2018, very well acted with gooda ction andsepcial effects, it basically feels like a B-movie horror that somehow got a budget upgrade. A story of a squad of WWII paratroopers who find themselves in a town where in a nazi held fortress horrible experiments are performed, that result in the creation of zombie-like supersoldiers, I think it's obvious why this goes very well with the Wolfenstein series.
Max Payne - Payback - probably one of the more forgotten of Gibson's films, this is a great thriller that shares a lot with the Max Payne games: the neo-noir feel, the main character's narration as he kills his way up the food chain of an organised crime family, the somewhat caricature-ish nature of it all, and even some double pistols action. Gibson even kinda looks like a cross between the first and second game's Max (more like the second though). It may lack the Twin Peaks oddity factor and the Norse mythology, but it's still as close to a good MP film as I can think of.
Prince of Persia The Sands of Time - Aladdin - wouldn't work for the later games, as they changed the style radically, but the first games in the trilogy shares a lot that fable-is Arabian Nights feel, not to mention the obligatory evil Vezir, with the Disney classic.
