zeogold: We can take whoever's slang we like here. Know why?
Because we're free. Also, that reminds me of a quote I once saw which I forget the source of:
"English doesn't 'borrow' from other languages. English chases other languages down a dark alley, beats them up, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar."
Sachys: not really true though. its more a case of english getting bummed into submission by other languages (ie french), then forgetting where it lives (ie scandanavia) before rolling over and asking for a second helping. its a bit like a cat with a dose of "mr. tumnus" syndrome really.
Well, that's basically what it's saying. English is a bizarre mishmash of other languages, including Latin, German, and French, molded into some weird byproduct where the sentence "Will Will Smith smith? Will Smith will smith" makes sense.
As hard as it is, it's worth mentioning that it can be eventually figured out through thorough thought, though.
To any non-native English speakers who stumble upon this post, I'm sorry.
