Classic Doom 1 and 2 rock - but Doom 3 is a bit different. It is not as fast and more slow-paced. Doom 3 was graphically stunning when it dropped, though. Felt a bit more survival-horror style mixed with FPS to me.

Doom 3 actually tries to tell a story here & there and does do the PDF audio and video logs things like System Shock games & BioShock games - but yeah, don't expect a ton from that, it ain't what Id's good at.

I actually preferred Quake 4, which was more action-y and Doom-like, action-wise. Fast-paced and lots of enemies and strafing/dodging.

Doom 2016 is awesome too, BTW. I need to go work on Eternal too, which also does rock.
