This is a meaningful giveaway in an attempt to raise the awareness of consequences of a Global Nuclear War.

Effects of this theoretical event can be observed in a DEFCON game of which I have 3+1 copies for you.

The game is controversial, it is starting from the moment when countries stopped communicating with each other and started to build military facilities... and..you can win by killing the most population of the opponent's country...in a game... In the real world, the winning would not take a place, and clouds of radioactive particles will create unspeakable hell on the whole Earth, without the possibility to grow food or clean water... it would be that bad as we are talking about hundreds or thousands of warheads shot over one day....and even one would create famine and additional conflict...so...there is no point of using it as a weapon... that is true, it is only a fear factor and an excellent material for video game!... Unless someone will decide for everyone that this is the end of our Planet.
But.
This is a World of Video Games! : ) (and players are considered smarter than non-players by several strange research)
Therefore.
I have a question for you... : )
What could nuclear warheads be good for? Apart from destroying the lives of everyone.

The first 3 People that are "in" will be awarded a game today I am fishing for your answers for my philosophical studies and your entertainment, please.
The extra code is going to the person with an answer of my choice next Sunday 05.03 morning.

Good to share this Planet with You! ^
NOT in as I already have it.
as fur your question, we can use nuclear warheads to re-ignite Sun if it decides to stop showering us with its light and warmth. I heard, it might work.

NOT IN, as I don't play this type of strategy games (I prefer to be able to see my units!).

I understand that scientists are very negative in affecting "things" or "life as it passes" in other planets, they consider it as "we don't want to pollute that planet", but I think it would be useful for next generations to nuke another planet! It may sound fruitless and/or dangerous, but things as they are now are very VERY stalled. I've read that in the matter of progress towards travelling space, we are little beyond from the point of inventing the wheel! Drastic changes need to be done. Dropping some nukes on a planet (Titan, Europa, Mars, whatever deems more suitable) may cause changes in the climate and the overall "life system" that may (in long years after, not for our lifetime) make it more suitable for habitation. Such experiments need to be done, but we are stalling without reason.
I don't have DEFCON so I'd like to be in.

Warheads could be useful in deflecting some types of asteroids I suppose.
I'm in and here's what I think it is good for.

In the event of a catastrophic circumstance that could threaten the survival of humanity, such as a global pandemic or a widespread environmental disaster like what occurs in the game "The Last of Us" a nuclear warhead could potentially be used to save humankind.
I am in.

As for the uses, I agree with DiffuseReflection on the asteroid matter. Also, outside of that, nuclear weapons, more accurately nuclear energy has absolutely tremendous use as nuclear energy, which can used for power generation

Nothing advances technology like armaments and the conquest of space. Thus, paradoxically, the construction of nuclear warheads can contribute to improving the quality of people's lives, for example by developing location identification systems (GPS).
The only thing I can think of right now is as a form of interstellar propulsion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion)

i will try my luck to extra :)

Nuclear olimpics. Every 4 years in the space we can built an olimpics for nuclear warheads. How far it can go or how big it can blow etc.

And united nations give the winners money. So its a win win situation for everyone :)
Not in, but +1 for your nuclear generosity, Seb 7.9!

I did not think anything good could come of nuclear warheads, until I read some of the above posts: from re-igniting the sun to interstellar propulsion, from asteroid deflecting to saving humankind from a global pandemic. Very creative ideas! ;)

Sounds like we need a giveaway for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri since that game let's you explore the double edged sword of technology.

"The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, God still watches and judges us. Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil." - Sister Miriam Godwinson

I only see a good destiny for nuclear warheads: dismantle them and use the uranium as energy.
I really tried to understand the E=mc2 quotation but my mind is programmed not to divide by zero and never go higher than the speed of light...not even by square. Yet the energy is "tremendous" and it can be surely utilized and your ideas might trigger the butterfly effect in our new world disorder ^ for good
Your ideas are giving hope for future existence on this Planet Zoo, animals are with us, kids will follow animals and we will need to go after... there will be time for games : )

as promised three codes going to the first three people: DiffuseReflection : Outriders : DoryaMish7

and I will send an extra code next Sunday to one more person plus mix your all answers into one super answer : )
Please continue to add answers, it's already starting to look like a Safe Heaven, Thank you All!
Congrats to the first 3!
I'll stay tuned for more info about how handy is nuclear warhead ;)
