What games are causing it to open?

While I don't recommend it and it's not something you should experiment with unless you really know what you're doing, it should be possible to remove various environment variables and/or installed programs entries from the registry about Galaxy to prevent other software from knowing you have it and trying to run it. This will break a lot of things like automated uninstall of Galaxy if you ever want to get rid of it, and if you *don't* know what you're doing you're liable break a lot more than that. A better idea would be to look into using security software that allows fine control over what individual applications are allowed to do, access, connect to, etc, and add rules to prevent other applications from launching Galaxy, though this will also require you to learn some ins and outs.

Depending on what you use Galaxy for, an even better choice might be to get the simple GOG Downloader to fetch your files instead of using Galaxy. There's no installation curation that way, but you can schedule/stop/resume downloads of everything without having to worry about broken downloads of giant files through a browser. It even keeps track of what new updates and patches you haven't downloaded yet since the last time you used it to grab a game in your account.

To stop the load of Galaxy I do this:
1 Install the game
2 when given option to open the game I tell it not to
3 go to the folder that it is installed in and make a shortcut of the main exe loader for the game

If I do this I never see Galaxy open up with the game.

Do what clisair up above said. Create a direct .exe shortcut of the game on your desktop. Galaxy will not launch anymore. It only launches if you start up your game from the Galaxy folder.

While I am not using Galaxy myself, my understanding is that all games that are available through Galaxy, even if you install them using the offline installers. This is the main, or pretty much the only, reason I don't have Galaxy installed, because I don't want it to get lauched if I am just playing some simple old GOG single-player game.

The game shortcut that the installation creates in your Start Menu and/or desktop includes the part which open Galaxy. So if you want to get rid of it, your choices are:

1. Uninstall Galaxy (then it won't be launched when you launch the game, duh!)

2. Edit the shortcut to remove the part of launching Galaxy (sorry I don't know how to do that).

3. Create a new shortcut that points directly to the game executable in the game installation directory.

About the third one, I am unsure if some DOSBox games and such give extra complications, as there you don't point directly to the game executable as far as I know, but you must probably point it to the DOSBox executable and give the right options for it which DOSBox config files to use and such. Maybe with such games the option #2 is simpler.

No need to uninstall Galaxy, just make a shortcut to the game executable (like in the old times) and delete the one the installer automatically makes.
