I recently bought Witcher 3 GOTY while it was on Sale. Downloaded the installation files manually which took ages then installed onto my PC. There was no hitch with the installation but when I try to play the game it forced me to install GoG Galaxy and would not run without. Are all new GoG games no longer DRM free?

You can start the game without Galaxy, it's just that the shortcut created automatically try to launch Galaxy but if you launch the game from the EXE located in the install folder it will run without it.

Also there are two different type of installers that you can download, some with Galaxy and some without (look at your downloaded files if there is a (g) at the end it means it's the ones with Galaxy.) the ones with Galaxy bundled install it by default (you can change that during install).

If you want to download the Galaxy-less installer, on the download page click one "MORE" and select "Classic installers"

What I hate about DRM is these Windows games requiring you to install Windows! The Mac ones are even worse.

Anyway, don't like Galaxy? Download the classic installer.

You don't have to log into a GOG account to play a game through Galaxy.
And you can play any GOG game without Galaxy if you download the classic installer.

you do not need to log into Galaxy to run a game that needs it, it just needs the libraries. and Windows requires a legally activated account to work.

Yep, in some games the online functionality needs a GOG account login, depending on the game/developer/publisher.
I should've said: "You don't have to log into a GOG account to play a single player game through Galaxy".

The "and that could easily be changed" part is just meaningless. Everything can change easily... maybe you die tomorrow? Who knows? Fear is not an argument.

Lost cause mate.

P.S. I play Witcher 3 with no Galaxy on my PC. In fact Galaxy caused some issues with Witcher 3, which is what made me uninstall it. I thought that was odd since they should theoretically work best together, but whatevs.

Yes, funny thing is, that the Galaxy overlay enabled caused microsuttering in The Witcher 3.
