In a dark, cursed place,
A riddle stands.
Keys must enter
Into your hands.
But, for now, a dead man I thank,
For I have just found a genius shank!

is this game new or old?
It could be new to the old, but I won't pretend.
The answer might come quickly when
I say the years that have passed are more than ten.

OK; Time for you to gues mine.
There are two, one from GOG and the other from outside.
One is about magic and family bonds, the other about armors and space travel.
One is set in a classical JRPG stting, the other in a future earth.
In one swords are a common theme, in the other golden decorations.
Maybe the fairy can tell you the answer, or maybe the operator.

A riddle stands.
Keys must enter
Into your hands.
But, for now, a dead man I thank,
For I have just found a genius shank!
Let's see what we've got here:
A dark, cursed place: seems to be a dungeon, or hell a haunted house
A riddle stands: dungeon filled with riddles? A case to solve?
Keys must enter into your hands: maybe keys in its true meaning or in a figurative sense. e.g. key to success
But, for now, a dead man I thank, For I have just found a genius shank!: This is the hardest one. The game could be a detective-mystery adventure. The protagonist found a dead body and a remarkable indication of the murder. The game could also be a rpg dungeon crawler. The character found a bone as a weapon...
My first thought was 'Dungeon Master', but I don't know if 'shank' could fit in here...
Is this game a rpg or an adventure?

It's no RPG, but an adventure instead.

You've had an entry in the 'what game is it' thread. So I guess it might be another Sherlock Holmes game. Am I right?
And 'shank' could be a special kind of button...
My second question: Is this a first-person perspective game?

There's no need for strife.
The definition of "shank"
Is really a knife.
As far as perspective,
It's really quite clear.
When I look at my screen,
My character's here.

Thanks for the info about the shank... There is a knife in the hands of a 'dead man' - a statue. And this knife can be found in a 'dark, cursed place' - a temple.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments.
If I am wrong I am clueless. There are too many Sherlock Holmes games and too many cases and too many of them with FPP.

It's not FPP, what the heck did you do?
It's a third-person game, and it's not what you think.
A new hint: A dead guy ends up tossed in the drink.
Edit:
Instead of italics, I somehow used bold.
But the former is better for rhymes, so I'm told.

According to wikipedia there are just a few Sherlock Holmes video games on the market. Some of them are based on board games or developed for the Japanese market. Most of the games for the Western market have been released 2006 and afterwards.
There are just two games left:
The Mystery of the Mummy - FPP
The Case of the Silver Earring - I have played that one, but can not remember a body 'in a drink'? There is one in a cellar underneath a pile of potatoes.

Why not give the GOG store a look?

Tit tit tit tit tit tit tit
Could you describe the character a bit?
I missed my vocation. Clearly I should have been a poet.
