Interesting how personal experience shapes us. In the 25+ years I've owned computers, I had different components from different manufacturers, except for two things:
- All my graphics cards have always been ATI (never had a problem)
- All my printers have always been HP (greatly pleased with all of them)

The rootkit.. Which malware writers took advantage of by starting to write their filenames to be written/saved with characters to hide the files... which i think was anything starting with a $, or something similar. Makes getting rid of the malware or root kits VERY annoying, thankfully i never had to deal with any of that...

Sony - far too many controversies, the rootkit, the MPAA, the whole Michael Jackson thing and screwing their artists, their pro-proprietary stance (still never bought a BluRay disc or a PSP), the fanboys, and many more.

Lenovo computers - I am going avoid these from now even if they're cheap. I'm tired of having to seek out third party bios and deal with bugs as a result just to use a third party network card and having it stop working sporadically. Also the design is a pain to service sometimes. Every new model feel cheaper and less durable than before and they still call it Thinkpad.

Apple/Samsung - fanboys, terrible software

Used to buy their graphics cards.
The last driver they released for my card caused a bootloop.
There was a beta driver which was older that worked properly. >_<

Apple - overpriced and overhyped
Sony - too much proprietary crap in the past form them to put up with them again
AMD - ever since i went intel/nvidia I never looked back as the driver were better, stability, speed and consumption also. As I mainly use laptops AMD is out of the picture.
With ASUS I'm on the fence. I had overheating issues with a laptop a few years ago, now my current one has some annoying issue that it doesn't always starts on the first press of the button (sometimes it takes 10 minutes of fiddling). The non-removable battery also sucks... so if they at least don't change that, I will have to switch to a different manufacturer.
