Tauto: Playing a game with multiple saves and scenarios and saved over the wrong one? I have and I am very cautious when saving now as it's a real pain and actually deleted a save in FNV and it crashed which was a massive pain:)
I used to save over the latest save sometimes to save moving the indicator to the oldest save and when I started having saves get corrupted(rare but it happens) and I lost progress I stopped doing it so much.

I also have been tired as others said and copied over the wrong save(some with certain cutscenes/battles/areas/moments I like and have saved) accidentally.

timppu: Some games offer only a limited number of save slots though. I think e.g. Deus Ex: IW does, which I am playing now (on the last levet though), so I just rotate the saves using all the save slots.
Sure, but I did reply to: "Playing a game with multiple saves..." (with no limit mentioned).

So... in case of save limitations, I still have GameSave Manager and a daily backup profile running.
I love (e.g.) the old Resident Evil games, but I'm still not a fan of the "fear of not being able to save game progress" mechanic they employ.

koima57: For me it was loading my file instead of saving over it...
I've done this too. >_<

Themken: Yes :-( Now I copy saves to elsewhere if I am keen on keeping them.
+1

Keeping track of the save games is an interesting challenge (sometimes made more difficult by games that don't let you change the name of the files) so I like to create short prefixes that summarize the character, class, map, situation, etc. to make the subsequent finding of them easier.
