my most recent thread was deleted, so the notification leads to nothing. Is the notification ever going to go away?

It's a known issue and has been summarily reported :)

Yeah, I have a permanent purple dot there too. I was replied to in a thread that was deleted before I could check it.

You can clear it by getting someone to send you a message or waiting for one of those sale notifications. One you have one, click on the bell and click "clear notifications". This will reset all notications even the purple dot.

A simple fix would be to simply make that button available at all times, even when you don't have any bell notifications.

Put the notifications for forum replies back under the bell, man. That worked. It worked great. Why did you guys break one of the better working features of the site? I got happy notifications I could identify regardless of when they came in… I could look at one reply without clearing them all. I could see who replied to whst at a glance, I got a p4oper notification on Galaxy, and a quick notification on the tab, no matter what other tab I might be browsing. In short it was SUPERIOR in every way to the broken permanent purple dot we have now.

No it didn't. That was terrible, because AFAIK, there was no way to disable it. Just like there isn't with the current system AFAIK. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
