I acknowledge my responsibility in abusing my credit card to buy digital games. God willing in a year or 2 I will have it paid off. I have nearly 40% of the card paid off at the moment.

But I would love to be able to buy a game with another form of payment, and there is none.

Being in the US, debit cards do not work. I don't want to have to stop buying games from GOG permanently, but I am not keeping a credit card just to buy digital games.
I'm pretty sure you can use PayPal, and at least for European customers, PayPal allows you to first send money from your normal bank account to your PayPal account.
I'm from the US and debit cards do work. I use mine all the time. You just have an ISA fee you pay for using it.

If GOG would sell "GOG Credit" through retail gaming stores I would be very happy.
What about gog wallet?

It depends. My debit card is restricted to US and Canada only.

Paypla doesn't work for me either.

You still have to get the money there into the wallet.

In light of the recent privacy issues as well as Paypal's history, many folks won;t allow Paypal access to their checking accounts. Many of our hosting clients won't do it and we don;t accept Paypal payment either.

This would be nice but I don't think they are big enough for retail chains to consider them.

Actually it;s a third party company that makes and stocks the cards.

I've told the story a number of times about how here in Charlotte, it used to be two little old ladies who drive around the city and surrounding towns who stock those. Neither one of them liked putting in game cards as they feel they don;t have a high sell rate and will only do so if required by the chain.
I'm in the USA and have used a debit card without problems. I now use a pay pal account that isn't linked to any bank or credit card. Of course that only works if you have a way to put money into the paypal account. I really don't understand those saying that neither of those two options works. There has to be other issues at play...
You can use paypal through the paypal prepaid master card. Its an extra step, but it works.

I'm 99% sure I've used my debit card (before getting a credit card), as well as Paypal.

I mostly use PayPal but I have used my card without any issue. You have any problems with payment, you could always create a support ticket.

Does your card carry a Visa or Mastercard logo?

Check cards, usually the ones with a visa or mastercard logo, are much more common these days than the old school debit cards. The check cards generally work anywhere that takes a credit card on that network, but it could be that the OP has an older style debit card that's just on the ATM networks.

If you've still got the card, look to see if it's a Visa or Mastercard card. Most of the "debit" cards I've seen over the last 20 years aren't so much debit cards as check cards, meaning that they take the money out of the bank account immediately like a debit card, but for most other purposes they're treated like a credit card.

My debt card works just fine on the website. Stop trying to use AMEX.

agreed. but I have never seen a fee for it... oh wait, there is a foreign transactions fee when using gog. Kinda dumb. Just make sure to buy many games at on time that way you only get the fee once. It's not a big fee.
