Noooo I had worked so long to get that song out of my head. Now it's back.

You should be banned.

Sam2014: It looks like there are 3 main groups:
Collectors
Hoarders/Savers
Completionists
Yep, I'm definitely in that group. What are the other two? ;)

StarChan: Btw ppl it would be fun if you could also indicate which of your unplayed games stand out as a game you should have started playing already.
Too many to list. Probably Fallout. Gothic 2. Dishonored. Although truth be told, I've already started all of these, I just didn't play them for long. Finding a game in my backlog I've never even started once and should have by now, is much more difficult. Maybe Tyranny?

I don't have any.
It's a silly concept for me.
Games are not a job, and they feel like one when you are forced to beat then to scratch from imaginary to-do list.

Even if I did have one....I don't have enough time to do this, employed or unemployed - doesn't matter.

On GOG 345 total games 128 marked as complete so that leaves 217. Probably another 100 more if I count Humble Bundle and physical copies.

37% of your GOG games played apparently isn't so bad. My own score is 4,4% =/
This thread indicates one thing, piracy is not the main problem problem - bad customer service and nasty restrictions of the product is. People buy games they end up not playing when the store and the product is doing a good job, people pirate games they enjoy the crap out of when the customers are treated like shit.

Sure, there are exceptions and yada yada, but for every pirate out there there must be tons of people who buy multiple games they don't even play.

Gabe Newell said it well when he claimed that to battle piracy, store bought games needs to be more appealing than the pirate alternative.

To get back to the thread: My backlog is bigger than I want to admit.

DadJoke007:
To be fair, one reason why so many people have these huge games collection nowadays is that games are so incredibly cheap, discounted up to 90% off and bundled together for less than the price of a cup of coffee. I think the average price for the games I bought is somewhat around 2 EUR. Not because I'm not willing to pay more for some (I seldom buy games at their regular price but I sometimes spend up to 30 EUR for individual titles), but because so many games are available for next to nothing. And if you pay less than 5 EUR or dollar for a bundle of e.g. 5-8 games, it's no surprise you end up with lots of titles you don't (ever intend to) play, without even spending that much.

I imagine there are hoarders among people who download pirated copies of games as well, people who just download everything they can just because they can, without really playing everything they downloaded, acting out of similar impulses as the people who buy everything just because it's cheap. Not to compare actual customers with freeloaders and leechers or to contradict your valid point about treating customers right, with which I sympathize; just saying that, that the connections you see and conclusions you draw are not necessarily as clear as it may seem at first glance.

Fair points, but do you never say to yourself "I should really read this book at some point" or make a mental note to watch a certain movie when you get the chance to? I think what we call "backlog" isn't that different, it's just that it can easily get out of hand due to the huge supply of available games on the market or in your collection. But in this context, it can also be of help if you have a list that allows you to keep an overview and focus on the games you're most interested in, especially if you do not have much time to play. If a "backlog" is not helping but rather stressing out the players and if it feels like a chore, then I agree, it's time to rethink the concept.

(Usually these lists should only contain titles you're likely to enjoy, of course. But people also read books or watch movies out of historical interest or just to see what everyone is talking about, even if they end up disliking them, so for some that's a valid motivation, too, I think.)

Hi, somebody in the 'what does the avatar above you remind you of' thread said it looked like 'the lady from Ghostbusters 2'. It isn't from any film or game though, it's merely a portrait I found (of noone in paticular) that resemble me to some extent. (Yup I wear glasses etc.)

I had another, blue-haired one earlier. That felt kind of weird.
Let's just say my backlog is big enough that if I stopped buying games this instant I could comfortably keep on playing for the next 3-4 years, which is probably low-balling it. That doesn't even take into consideration any of my favored multiplayer games either.

Hi, i don't think I've seen the blue-haired one, but this one is awesome, keep it! :D

kind of reminds me of that old game called "No one lives forever" but pretty sure its not from that game.

well, no matter. thanks nonetheless and have a wonderful day! :)

Ha ha, I believe you must own half the GOG catalog, so that is quite understandable.
