sadlyrematch: Heroic syncs playtime (with the option to disable it in settings), has achievements, has cloud sync (for games that support it, and it also seems to be Windows-games-only? works fine with Wine/Proton), and has multiplayer support for some games that "require" Galaxy for multiplayer.

It's how my profile is populated with stats.

pawel-t: Nice! Thank you for the answer. Then I can finally play my GOG games on SD without hacky way or push it to PC only.

Damn, that's a great news :D
Fair warning, Heroic I'm pretty sure is just an electron app and its controller navigation is pretty ass occasionally. You'll be moving with the d-pad or whatever, and instead of selecting a game it'll focus on some other element on the page. It is usable, but a bit finnicky at times.

On PC with mouse/keyboard it's perfectly fine.

Breja: I just don't understand the appeal of handheld gaming and never will.
You do understand the appeal, you just have to reverse your own situation and substitute in that of others. For some, being able to play at home is not a feasible option. Being at home is a place where they cannot be comfortable or alone, or have constant obligations. The only opportunity may be the daily, tedious, travel time to and from a frequently visitied place. Such people may want a reprive from the weight of the weary world. You would rather pick up a book because you play games at home, but games specifically designed for handhelds can be a form of temporary escapism that don't require as much mental effort or focus, and are designed with shorter play times in mind.

solseb: More like this, please : ) SDxc are great all-rounders. Testing for a year and work everywhere! ^
I believe SD meant Steam Deck and not SD card. That said, Most games work fine on a SD card.

dtgreene: (Reminder: Women's clothing, for whatever reason, doesn't usually have pockets.)
I know a young woman who sends most of the cloths to the dressmaker (not sure if its the right word) to put pockets in both trousers and skirts.
Not related to you obviously but it's amazing to find people that break the status quo in one way or another :)

Thank you for keeping standards and passion! ^
How can anyone ever use SD for anything else? Disgusting as can be. I've been in the industry for 25 years, but those teenagers seem to ignore all the standards out there ; )

dtgreene: Actually, a mini pc that fits in a backpack can be useful if, say, you need to bring the computer to a convention to show off a game you're making.

Of course, there's the issue with the monitor, and unless you can find one that folds somehow, fitting it in a backpack could be a problem, and carrying it separately, of course, is annoying. (I've done that in the past, but they were to smaller events where I could park close by.)
Most people would use a laptop for that task but indeed, a mini pc is great. I have one Intel compute Stick (stk2m3) and although is not used for that purpose, the very low power requirement makes them the perfect fit for some projects. Now that are plenty of Raspberrys everywhere it might not make so much sense.
My unit was used to control some stuff and was on 24/7.

Shmacky-McNuts: I will consider their laptops then. Good to know it has power options :)
The Dell laptops I've used are even better, lots of BIOS/UEFI options and you can set the charging limit freely to certain percentage, anything between 55-100%. And it can be set either with a Windows application (Dell Power Manager), or from the UEFI settings.

Plus, they've kept releasing new BIOS/UEFI updates to this laptop even though it is already over 6 years old!

Syphon72: I really hope steam OS doesn't hurt the progress of other Linux OS.
I don’t see any risk of that. SteamOS barely registers on the radar of Linux distributions.

Super Deformed: it's an art style where the character's head is bigger in proportion to the rest of the body than would be realistic; common in older (or older-style) JRPGs

Standard Definition: When High Definition started appearing, the term Standard Definition (SD) was used for non-HD TVs, monitors, and resolutions.

dtgreene: (....)
Call me a teenager : D Thank you! There are also Step Daughters, Single Doses, and Scooby-Doo.... https://www.acronymfinder.com/SD.html. It was just unthinkable for me to think about playing games from those : )

All right. I was wrong. Up the Steam! ^ best things!
PS: I'm fine with my 10" touchscreen. Can't see details on 7".

No worries.

I've tested it on some game and it's really working and counting time. Nice. I need to do some achievements testing :)
Small computers even at home are great for chillin on the sofa and having fun without being upright xD

Loaf about until you are ready to graft ass to a proper chair. Then plug into a keyboard, mouse and monitor. But having a small device whilst traveling is nice too. 14hour flights. Bus rides. Stood up by a date. Good investment.....except for Razer. I now hate the entire brand and want them to Hindenburg(financially).

How often does the average person go on a 14-hour flight? I guess if you live in a big city and ride the bus all the time, it would be a good investment..

I dont know the answer. But I personally like to have a normal computer in my hands sometimes. Some provide good desktop function too.
