Steam game had a virus***
For those not aware, about this, this:
PC Security Channel - Steam Game Installs Malware that could hack you (7:18 duration)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHTKTujfVSk Thing is, they (the guys that published the malware infected game) got caught this time.
Who can tell if there aren't many more that weren't caught in 10+ years of Steam?
And, yeah, please, the platform already allows multiplayer games with "anticheat software" that can be considered spyware on their own that have 50000+ players.
What is one malware compared to that on a small game affecting 1500 users?
Sadly people will not learn the lesson and will keep thinking this is normal and it was a small incident.
Timboli: The devil is in the detail.
But here's something that might help with some of your games.
List of DRM-free games on Steam scientiae: Thanks for the list. :)
I haven't read it because I am alergic to Steam. Am I correct in thinking there is, in some cases, a lot of fiddly details and procedures one must conduct to exploit this freedom? Is any blood or tissue sampling? :o
No blood or tissue sampling, thankfully! :P
But yeah, annoying procedures that normal users would need tutorials on how to do it, most of the time.
Some are completely DRM-Free though. Others require tinkering and others can be turned DRM-Free using community tools.
(DRM-Free games on Steam list owners do not support such tools though, as the list only shows truly DRM-Free games.)
