I'm trying to edit an image for a personal diary, it's a great picture I found online about Disco Elysium (go play it's great), yet I want to remove Kim from the picture, I know there are programs like photoshop that cost a fortune, but I'm using a more suitable option for a third world citizen and it's GIMP, it's does its job but it doesn't look so good, could sombody give me a hand?

No offense but... the guy is pretty much all the picture is. What exactly are you going to be left with if you remove him? Blurry water?

Not exactly easily and the results may vary, but you could try this tutorial:

I attached a quickly made example, obviously it's far from perfect.

And no offense but...
A non-professional like yourself pointing that out gives me (a professional) some hope in this age of "mystical AI" and "magic photoshop" dumbwittery.

To the OP - no, we cannot "enhance" it without you spending a good amount of money to cover the hours needed to create the new background.
AI will do a shit job.
Just find a different picture, spend money on a professional or end up with shit.

I suggest unsplash.com as a royatly free source of images to use (legally).

None taken, but I would appreciate it if you'd explain what you mean. I'll probably agree since I share your distaste for AI art :D

Oh, you meant removing the word "kim" :D Ok, now this makes a whole lot more sense. Sorry for the stupid question!

Yeah, I know, but for what I need the IA does the job, I don't need perfection and unfortunately I can't pay for that either. I have a complete lack of artistic skills too XD
So... yep, I have to accept what I can afford :/

you could have said "THE TEXT: KIM" though - far more simple job. :/

People seem to think (a la those US crime scene dramas) every image can be automatically enhanced / magically changed into another and even with the rise of AI slop, its still not possible in many cases to get a decent job done - even with a professional at the wheel, a budget and plenty of hours spent.
The fact you pointed out "nope" at the start gives me hope that not everybody is wrong in the head on this matter - yet.

I'd use any clone stamping tool equivalent on your image editing software of choice. InkPanther chose a good one.

Basically, you choose a reference point on one picture and then go to your target area and paintbrush what you want to hide. That target area will be replaced with pixels around the reference point. In this case, I'd reference the right side of the image to replace "KIM" and use the whiteness of the water in the bottom left to hide "ice melts" unless you're good enough to redraw over it.

After, I'd use a blur or soft eraser tool to soften any kind of spots where the blending isn't that good. That should be 80% of the way there.

Ah, ok. Thanks! Because you started with "no offence" I misunderstood your "tone" and thought you meant I was wrong :D (this thread seems to be my got to place to misunderstand things)

Nothin fancy, but that is pretty reason in a few minute job.

edit:
https://github.com/k4yt3x/video2x/releases?page=2

Use this 4.8 version ....or latest. I think the you can fiddle with the output model that best suits you. I dunno how well the latest runs. Let me know if latest is used and if you like it.

Its an upscaler by the way. Dont use the video aspect, in the old version though. It breaks everything. No idea about latest.
