I wanted to see if it was a wholly my end problem, or something specific: I just purchased Days Gone (had been eyeing it for awhile, and 11 bucks isn't terrible) and I keep failing to download the game resulting in the E3 error. I've tried rebooting, whitelisting, removing the white listed items (since I've never had this issue in the past so am not bothering to update my firewall settings) but updating and installing other games I own on GOG- which, as a note, fucking worked.

Don't worry, though, the fucking credit card payment did successfully hit. Any suggestions, or should I give into my urge and say fuck it and refund it since this has gone beyond aggravating to me?

Open a support ticket and expect 7 days before the first reply, in the best case scenario.

If you want to try troubleshooting,
Read the support article and make sure the executables mentioned there have Internet access.
Disable IPv6
Set your DNS to Cloudflare

If you have an alternate connection you can use, for example by using your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, then that would be a last resort. It was the only thing that worked for me when GOG servers were unreachable in Gwent and GOG Galaxy, and neither staff nor other users saw a problem on their end. The problem eventually just went away after a few days.

Dongly.Q.Dongson: I keep failing to download the game resulting in the E3 error.
What is the software throwing this "E3 error"
Your Web browser during the download? The game installer when trying to run it?
Are you using Galaxy or offline backups?

Edit: If using Galaxy, another user having this problem said it was his firewall blocking unreliable connections.

I'm having the same issue right now. I just noticed that my older games install fine. It's just the new ones that I just purchased (3 Legacy of Kain games).

Same here, purchased the DLC Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty yesterday, and impossible to download the game. Download works like 2 minutes and then fail every time. But I tried with another game like Withcer 3 and same problem. Had no problem a coupe month ago when I downloaded Witcher 3 on the same PC.

Tried to add exceptions to Windows Firewall and Antivirus like they say : https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013537477-GOG-GALAXY-Installation-failed-E3-Update-failed-E3-Failed-to-connect-to-GOG-com-servers?product=gog but it changes nothing. Uninstall/Installed GoG and games does not work either.

Tried to set IPV4 DNS to Google but nope.

Really pissed off because event if I ask for refund for the DLC, I purchased the base game on Gog. So if I want to buy it on Steam to be able to download it, I have to pay base game again.

EDIT :

Finally looks like I found a trick to fix this : Limiting the bandwith in the GoG settings to 10 MB/s and no fail for like 30 minutes. Without limit I was at about 14 MB/s. Tried to disable bandwith limit to see if it was really that or just a coincidence but it failed again after a few minutes. Will update if I managed to download the game completely like that.

I can confirm that limiting bandwith solved my issue, game is finally downloaded.
If nothing's working and it's causing you more frustration than fun, maybe it's time to consider that refund. Life's too short for aggravating gaming experiences, especially when you've got your eye on other games.
Limiting bandwidth is 100% the E3 issue!

Did as BadRakun said and limited it to 10mb and my newly purchased Escape from Monkey Island finally started downloading.

My friend had the exact same problem when he bought Everspace but it just started working for him at some point but he wasn't able to download the game on the same day as he purchased it.
Am also experiencing this issue with Outward Definitive Edition, but sadly the bandwidth limit has not solved it.

Edit: after copying the game from my brothers' account and then instead of allowing GoG to update or install the game, i instead verified / repaired it and it is magically working now. Still annoyed that i have spent the last 2 hours working this out.

Edit Edit: for additional clarification i still do have a bandwidth limit set, but it didn't seem to initially fix the problem

Not sure if it is just a coincidence but I tried everything and nothing worked. I then ran the GoG app as admin and the download for the cyberpunk dlc started. I still have bandwidth limit set so not sure if it was that that fixed it or the run as admin.
Thank you to the user who suggested bandwidth limitation. I was also having this problem with a couple games I just bought and limiting the bandwidth totally solved the problem, installing both games quickly with no more problems.

Really happy to hear my workaround seems to work for the most of you :)
can confirm the limit bandwidth worked for me when I purchased the Onslaught DLC for Fantasy Generals 2.
