Since the news broke there's been nothing on the auction of Interplay's IP stuff. Is there something happening behind closed doors we don't know or has nobody put up a bid?

Interplay has been going out of business for over 10 years now.

No idea on where this is at, though it was interesting to learn (at the time, at least) that it was an "all or nothing" sale and not a cherry picking affair (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1275100).

It does seem like Interplay has recently (within months) started to pile some of their titles onto Steam that weren't previously available there, such as this gimped version of Redneck Rampage and (to name but two) so it's hard to guess what's going on with them or if they're merely attempting to squeeze as many dimes out of these games on as many digital storefronts as possible before they lose publishing rights to them entirely.

Emachine9643: This is news for me! Do you think once they sell off the rights that the games will be pulled from the stores?

similar things have happened before... gog has been letting us know when that happens via news post RSS update feeds and forum posts... sadly sometimes we only get hours notice before an item changes or is removed :(

Before that happens i suggest you grab what you want while you can... dont wait for a sale!

How are they gimped? Are the GOG versions superior?

Just like Starkrun mentioned above, it's very likely.

The old Fallout titles aren't going to go anywhere though, since Interplay already lost that battle to Bethesda which resulted in the "old" versions of those games being replaced by the current ones that feature less extra content and now sport Bethesda as a co-publisher on their store pages.

It's just Redneck Rampage that is. Though for some reason Steam sells Messiah at a slightly higher price than that of GOG.

The version GOG sells (of Redneck Rampage) currently includes most of the expansions and the music, the version sold on Steam does not (if the reviews are anything to go by).
