Greetings!

I remember seeing it on the wish list here on GOG some time ago, unfortunately this first entry never made it onto the scene here. The other titles are on GOG (as far as I remember), and the one that was never released here is for FREE on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2183600/Kingdom_Under_Fire_A_War_of_Heroes_GOLD_Edition/

It appears that the developers have removed the original voice acting and are releasing some patches to further improve the overall experience. This is good, although the lack of original dubbing makes everything less nostalgic. =/

Anyway, here's this tip about this RTS/ARPG (it's basically a good mix of these genres) for everyone! Hurry to get your copy...

And good fun! =D
thanks!

From what I understand this only applies to Multiplayer mode, am I correct? I'm not a big fan of multiplayer modes, and I also don't care about achievements or things like that. Just playing singleplayer is fine with me. =)

They could release this entry for free here on GOG with just the singleplayer mode. This would help clear this bad view of some users. If that's what I understood from all the posts, I didn't read them all, but that's what I understood.
Meh, still have an original CD, will keep it unless this game gets a proper GOG release. :p
Is anybody here smart enough to offer a third party opinion on the blockchain use in this version, I'm not sure the developer is totally impartial?

I would not trust the OP. Their previous threads:

They made a thread promoting a pirated version of GTA (now locked).

They are pushing a Steam game with seemingly embedded blockchain here.

They are pushing mostly-redundant third-party software that does what any non-ancient OS does if configured properly.

They were pushing obscure emulator software.

Their recent comment on the community wishlists (2 days ago):

I must agree that most of the users on the main forum are retarded and toxic. Subforum users are better, so I suggest GOG keep subforums for each game and close the main forum. I didn't want to have to vote on this, but I will have to for the good of the GOG service.
After reading this and the name being familiar, I went and searched their threads on the forum.

Nearly all of their threads are linking or promoting software that is risky to install.

Maybe I'm just one of his retarded toxic forum users, but I would exercise caution (as always) when someone randomly recommends random software/games over and over again.
I'm observing this one for some time and would love to see it on GOG. It's my favourite "Warcraft 2,5" game. Especially after Gold edition patch, which gave possibility to make save game at any moment (not only between missions, which was a really troublesome thing in original release).

Sadly, as quoted, the publisher(developer?) did not made a firm decision to publish it here as well.

I'm worried with the fact, how "modified" this new release is - for example, in "old" release there were also LAN multiplayer (and I think TCP-IP), aside from Wargate.net service (of course no longer functional). In the new release (one from Steam) we have only one multiplayer option, focused on this "blockchain" stuff.

The best option would be to have a "legacy" edition, but is it possible? Hope so.

I'm in the same situation. And not sure what to think about it.
From a technological standpoint, I would keep my hands from it. If you are not knowledgeable about blockchain or software/IT, then you cannot check and control what the blockchain-program is doing on your machine.

There are also other things that shine a very bad light on this.
If we consider the blockchain is only there to replace having a server, then you could just leave that out and create a peer-to-peer network at very low cost. Having to set up a blockchain is just work you then have to do with no benefit to it. Also, having a blockchain just increases the load on all participating machines. On a peer-to-peer network, you simply send what you are doing on your side of the game, to the host and he sends it back.
If you use a blockchain for this, you will have to calculate each action as a transaction and push it into the blockchain. Making the chain unreasonably huge by remembering each action ever made and also creating a huge load for your computer.
Also this is not serverless. What do these guys think, where a fresh installed game gets it's access to the blockchain from? There is no way two people can play together over the internet, without knowing that the other person wants to play. If you play with a friend, you just type in their IP and connect. No communication needed. As soon as you want to play with someone you don't know, there will be a server, that communicates this information. It can also just communicate where to find the blockchain, but there is still a server. It's nonsense.
So there has to be some sort of agency to push this locus chain or what they call it. I myself believe this is all just a ruse to get investors to fund their blockchain-thing, because it seeeems to solve real world problems (which is what blockchains extremely rarely do). So they get money from the investors, ditch the project, and move on. Or they even mine coins using your machine.

NFTs and Blockchains have not only no real use in gaming (or for that matter anywhere in the world), but they have a tendency to build up small very promising looking things, to then "rugpull" everyone involved.
I would not download this version. I believe this will never be changed and thus making this a very scammy download.
