how come i see many world war 2, vietnam, and some world war 1 and others like civil war, video games, and i only see a small handfull of a very few old Korean war video games??
are there any?

The war in Korea is very appropriately labeled the "forgotten war" since it's not referenced in the media very much. Even in schools it's (generally) sidelined or barely mentioned, even though it was a major and brutal conflict.

As for the games, the situation is no different, or arguably even worse. The only game that comes to mind is, wouldn't you know it, Korea:Forgotten conflict. And it wasn't a very good game IIRC.

Korea simply isn't a "popular" war, its inconclusive end doesn't lend itself well to pop culture narratives.

Before 2007, the SK government banned games about the Korean War to avoid escalating tensions with NK. Homefront is still banned to this day because it depicts a unified Korea under NK rule. That already alienates a portion of your market. Why make games about current controversies when studios can make nazis, communists, and terrorists the bad guys without offending anyone?

Also, the risk with producing controversial media involving NK would be too great for companies to bear even if that company doesn't get NK customers. Biggest recent example is The Interview movie. At one point, Sony had hired security to protect Seth Rogen from the controversy and threats.

Because the Korean "war" was really just a "police action".

It seems more asian located theatres, outside the whole pacific event of course or even african situations not to mention south american theatres did not feature as much as it could be, of course the most exciting stuff with super high stakes, enormous amounts of troops and the most tactical situations all occurred on the main continent, and with wargaming just as prone as to sentiments as any other genre, of course there is no pokemon hype but the whole german invasion comes pretty close

There is also Sabre Ace. Haven't played it.

Unless all the quotation marks lead to something I'm not familiar with, I can assure you that war was a major conflict however you look at it. And its legacy is hugely disproportionate to how people perceive it. Which is a fail to modern schooling systems that marginalize it for whatever reason.

With good reason. Still, that link leads to a list of games set in Korea. (It probably isn't complete.)

Any war/conflict past WWII hasn't really had any reason to exist, so the conflicts have at best, been questionably done. I'd call them mistakes, the lot. (And most of the games related to them were shovelware; a glut for the Desert Storm conflicts.)

Probably the same reason there seems to be so few movies about it, or the first Gulf war (there are some of the latter, but even they are mostly about "gawd it was a boring war, the biggest tragedy was that the US soldier never got into proper combat situations and didn't get to snipe a headshot to an Iraq warlord").

Maybe it was a boring, at least from the point of view of common United Statesians. (I don't say "Americans" because then all the Canadians, Mexicans and Brazilians would be like "Huh? I didn't find it boring at all! That war meant everything to me!".)

The only ones that come to mind for me are a couple of John Tiller strategy games: Korea '85 and The Korean War.
However there should be a number of mods available for most wargames.

Wargaming is quite orthodox when it comes to the selection of battle-scenarios. Most, if not all, of these developers are Western, Eastern European and Russian. And it's easier to write and create scenarious about something you're familiar with and have existing knowledge of. In Europe we're not really taught about the Korean war, it's just a side-note at best. At least it was at the time of my own schooling: I first learned about it after watching documentaries, not from my schooling.

War is obviously not a Euopean or Western product, however the majority of wargames have a European or Western basis. It would be interesting as a gamer to play scenarios set properly within the context of Africa, South America, Central Asia, etc. I don't think this will happen until developers from these regions start developing their own games.

With the risk of sounding like an anal-retentive d*#k (me, not you), I wish to point out that the South Koreans themselves have made a tonne of movies and television shows about the Korean war, a few of them have even appeared on Netflix. They just haven't really reached a non-Korean audience.
