This is not something I want GOG involved in. Let the game industry use as much power as it needs to create great games. Carbon is good and keeps billions of people alive. If we follow what they want, we would be severely limited in what we could play.

Here is what they say about themselves.
Midgard gives gamers access to a curated list of the carbon accountable games on the market. View each game's carbon & offset reports, mitigate your own gaming emissions, and play more sustainably

How about Midgard stops using the internet, stops using electricity and goes the way of the dodo bird.

We now go to our expert, Max Rockatansky. What do you think, Max?

Thanks for bringing my attention to this great promo, I'm going to buy some games now.

More information before buying something is always a good thing. It allows customers to make a more informed decision. As long it doesn't restrict what games Gog sells I don't see the issue.

And here we have an example of the E pillar of the ESG in action. Not that hot to talk about unlike the other two, but still very much an important factor towards the overall ESG score. Carbon whatever is one of the hottest topics in that category.

I mean, of all the things to get your knickers in a twist over, "We use solar panels" is certainly putting clown makeup on the high horse.

Just wait until your game purchasing (and play time) is tracked and limited by the same scores. But what do I know?

I went to college for electrical engineering with a focus on so called 'renewable' technologies. Got real demoralized when I found out how much of it is activist companies relying on on government grants. Not to mention the serious intrinsic and unsolvable problems with the technology itself. Worked two jobs in the industry only to get laid-off when the business collapses. One because the grants dried up and the other because it was discovered that CEO was basically running a scam and basically billing for installations he never set up.

And then I found out that NOAA has been publishing bad climate data for years. Came out when an audit of their weather station network discovered that over 90% of them were install incorrectly. Mostly by installing them too close to either passive or active heat sources. Like right next to A/C vents or concrete structures that hold heat during the day.

I still really care about the environment, but the hyper-focus on 'zero carbon' is ideological BS and doesn't even touch upon real serious environmental challenges.

Solar panels while helpful to having are very toxic to produce and disposing of so not very enivromental friendly for games.

I think GOG is losing money and is relying on this ESG bullshit.

Thanks for highlighting this sale that I missed until now (I seldom go through GOG front page).

I think I might buy two of the proposed games:
- City Game Studio
- Towerful Defense

Again, big thanks for the highlight! Without that thread I would have totally missed it.

ESG mostly focuses on pushing LGBTQ and feminist propaganda messaging in movies, video games, comics, music etc.

As far as I know the carbon and climate change crap is not at the forefront of ESG agenda. I could be wrong though.

No, it is. you can thank Blackrock and Vanguard. they give investment money to these shitty corporate heads that shove this shit in our throats. I can bet you a million dollars that King_Nut is going to lock this topic because of this topic's Wrongthink.
