Favorite movie is a matter of personal perspective.

I'd never be able pick a favorite movie from the 80s, 90s (some from 70s and 2k era also), there were just too many good ones out there for me.

In no particular order:

The Goonies (this one truly felt like an adventure every kid should have growing up)
Princess Bride (a lighthearted fairy tale romance/comedy. So endearing)
Star Wars (the original trilogy, a truly epic space odyssey and one that remains epic to this day)
Stand By Me (the song of the same name in the movie still gets to me every time I re-watch it)
The Breakfast Club (a teen movie that wasn't a teen movie, not for me at least and a joy to watch)
The Terminator (love Linda Hamilton and her Beauty and the Beast series was awesome too)
The Beast Master (aaah Tanya Roberts...ahem)
Blade Runner (was it Rutger Hauer/Harrison Ford and did I spell their names right? a haunting one for me)
Titanic (I've never been to a movie where I heard so many people cry at the end and I might have been one of them lol)

..and so many, many more and that's not even counting the animated movies like Akira, Heavy Metal, Fire and Ice, Lord of the Rings (the animated one) etc.etc.

There's just no way for me to ever pick a single favorite movie from my favorite years of the past. I'm amazed people can pick just one, maybe I'm the odd one here lol.

Wait...was I supposed to comment here or did I make a mistake? lol

First, the kids are alright.

I'm 64, and can't name a favorite film. There are far too many great ones, so my list would start in the 1930's and continue to today.

Great films are still being made. Two of my recent favorites are:

"The Banshees Of Inisherin" (2022)
"Flow" (2024)

Mae West "She Done Him Wrong"(1932): In her boudoir receiving gentlemen "callers" is visited by her valet, informing her there are 10 lads waiting out in the hall to pay their respects. How are we feeling tonight? Well, dearie, a little tired, so send one of them home. She was in her own league.

Flow was indeed great. It really says a lot that I was disappointed to see Wallace & Gromit win BAFTA instead (not that I care much about awards), because I love Wallace & Gromit, and most Aardman films, and usually I vastly prefer stop motion over CG animation, but in this case Flow really was unquestionably the better movie.

But Banshees Of Inisherin I have to say I think is quite overrated. Maybe it's because of that high praise that I expected too much, or maybe because as I watched I kept getting reminded of a similar and in my opinion much better (though not nearly as highly regarded) movie How Harry Became a Tree. In a bizarre coincidence they even both star Kerry Condon.

I actually like a decent amount from the 1960s and earlier, though I doubt I could name even one of them (or how far back) lol.

What I do recall, is that there were a lot of movies in black and white (and when they started appearing in Techni-color(?) as well) that I enjoyed greatly. Mostly the comedies though, but plenty of others still.

Going from then to now, you can almost see the flow of history that evolved the movie industry and the changes in society.

FarkOfDoge: Better than being a crazy cat lady. Luckily we don't have any of those around here!
I'm going to say something that is very scary, so brace yourself.....

1> I am the lady gender.

2> My family room really does look like I'm running a day care for cats.

3> At one time, I was fostering a bunch of cats to the point that there were twelve cats in this house.

I can't foster anymore though as one of the three cats that currently lives here was diagnosed with Pandora Syndrome and having a bunch of fosters coming/going would only increase his stress level.
