I feel similarly. Another concern is that you're purchasing the standard edition of the sequel which has no upgrade path to obtain the deluxe edition goodies without buying the game again.

Not if you simply missed it. At best, staff might help if you weren't able to claim a discount due to a problem on GOG's side (server issues, etc.).
