I did an online test of my system for BG 3 and it returned three green checkmarks. So I'm assuming my system is good to go. The game must be huge, 150 gig storage space??? It requires DX11 which I have.

A test for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete was turned down for not having minimum requirements, including due to the fact it requires a video card with DX12. and the test failed on all requirements.

So has anyone tried BG3. Seems like it's a pretty high tech game to still be on DX11.

i'm waiting

they are in the process of eliminating errors and adding content based on the community's experience
waiting till its out of early access.
Have some cash set aside for it though.
Just imagine, a game of 150 gigs and growing? I got my first shock from Horizon Zero Dawn at 68 gig. Most of that though is a train load of video when talking to someone. Just imagine that size for the usual game play!

many games are ballooning to this size. I dont see it necessarily as a good thing, just a lack of optimization.
Haven't even played the first two yet!

Maybe it'll shrink again at some point? (optimization during or after Early Access)

Divinity: OS2 is +/- 50GB (the installer, I don't know how big the installed game is)
I uninstall games after I've finished them (especially more recent ones) so I usually only care about the size of the installer files.

Why not?

I played and finished them in the year after they were first released. These days, I'm a bit more hesitant to start a really long game - though once I do, they're usually worth it. I still consider those 2 BG games all-time classics (among my favorites)!
A few of my years at college would've been a lot easier if there wasn't Baldur's Gate. :-P

I don't care for the usual BG3 criticism that it's a 'skinned' Divinity OS. When I first played the first game, I enjoyed it for what it was, not because I wanted it to be like this or that other game. Nostalgia is for old people and I'm not nearly 200 years old!*

It's not really "high tech", the engine is an tweaked version from the two Original Sins I would say that if you can run those games you shouldn't have issue with BG3. I played a little, finished the "prologue" and run around doing some fights on the next zone, it was still pretty buggy (I played the very first released version), but promising.
I don't even like the original BG. The only reason I was hopeful for the third one was that I liked Original Sin so much. But now that I, to my own surprise and great disappointment, bounced off of Original Sin 2 after just a few hours of playing, I'm again disinclined to pick up BG 3. Even once its finished that is (and assuming I'll want to buy anything from GOG) - I don't touch early access stuff.

yep waiting for full release , early access is especially bad for rpg-s
when a bug can ruin your 20+ hours playthrou easily or just makes story lackluster
my opinion on this matter is not really loved by many

but i find BG3 absolute shit, it's not Baldur's Gate and it's not Divinity Original sin 2
it's basic nothing at all not even a proper D&D rule game.

I don't have a good answer for that, in all honesty. I aim to play at least the first one this year.
As much as I'd like to try out Baldur's Gate 3, I'm hesitant to try out Early Access or InDev games.

The uncertainty of wait time on patches makes it difficult to start a game if it turns out I have to start over again after investing a significant amount of time playing it. Time is not something I can get back.

Also, if the game turns out to be incompatible with my system for whatever odd reason (even if the system exceeded requirements), then that certainly would be a problem. Refund policy only lasts 30 days after all, with very few exceptions.

I always use the Dark Reign game as a constant example of instabuying a game over nostalgia, only to find out I can't even play it once just to relive the experience of fond memories. Well, I would have probably gotten it anyway just to have it. You never know when an old game disappears from the world for good.

I do wish BG 3 success though, it's part of a beloved series for most of us CRPG fans, myself included (or is that just my slightly ripe age talking? lol). Hopefully the final product does it justice.

1) Buying newly-released games, let alone in-dev games on GOG is risky, considering how some developers are not good about updating GOG versions within a reasonable time frame. I prefer to wait until the game is closer to the final version.

2) There many other games out there that catch my interest as well, and often cheaper, especially during sales.

Do want to play Baldur's Gate 3? Yes, but I'm not in a hurry.
