InsaneGoblins: Edit: Purchased E:C, seems exactly what I was looking for :)

jamotide: Noo, the setting, story and atmosphere are the only good things about that game. The combat is lame, the RPG stuff, classes and stats is boring, the overland map is ugly and annoying. The only thing this game has over the Kings Bounty remakes is the historic world setting.
Too late, already purchased and already regretting :(

Overmap is too zoomed in, and it's all based off predictable results. RPG is cheap, unfair and unfinished. Disappointment
I am going to repeat my suggestion of Elminage Gothic. It is recent, is turn based, is party based (you make a party of 6 characters, and can create new characters at any point in the game), has very little dialogue (I actually am not sure what the plot is, and I've beaten the main story), and is definitely RPG, not strategy.

Will research, reviews make it seem a bit mediocre
I think I'm looking at the original Final Fantasy.

Small amount of dialogue and even story, more gameplay mechanics and settings.
I know how OP feels, I still haven't finished Pillars of Eternity because jesus god why does every person in the world want to tell their own life story and give me paragraphs of information about the setting's lore. It only makes it worse that the protagonist is basically psychic so he can read the thoughts of people's life stories. I miss CRPG's about killing, leveling up, getting better gear, exploring, not all this pretentious game devs who think they're Tolkien.

This.

PoE is an AMAZING game. Combat is fun, locations are nice, art is beautiful, but FFS! SHUT UP!

What do you guys think of Lords of Xulima? Too much text as well?

Waiting for FFIX t come to steam "shortly". Can't wait to finish it for the nth time :D

I'm the opposite of this thread. The killing, leveling, gears etc.. is merely there as the medium of the game that I want: exploration, story, lore but in an interactive fashion which is why I prefer a good CRPG before a good movie or novel.

InsaneGoblins: Doesn't this game have a truckload of story and dialogue? It's the reason as to why I never got it...
Not really. I can't say I'd really recommend the game (kind of samey and drags a bit at the end) but there's not a huge amount of dialogue as far as I remember... the most annoying part is between the chapters (or acts? I can't remember) when there's a bit of text (not much) but it scrolls so slowly and you can't speed it up...
It's been a while since I played and finished it, but I don't remember it being overly text heavy, just the odd conversation...
I could be wrong though.
Actually, wouldn't the whole roguelike srpg be what you're looking for? I doubt that it will be heavy on story considering that you will repeat a lot, and if so, Massive Chalice and Skyshine's BEDLAM (also mentioned by MadalinStroe).

I do believe that Mordheim: City of the Damned is multiplayer focused so i don't think that you will have too much of a story on the singleplayer.

Ixamyakxim: Card Hunter is my recommendation... And the devs
For some reason I read this as "Lord of the Rings Online was a squad based WWII game".

Played every XCOM ever, so Massive Chalice as well. Feels... unfinished.
As for BEDLAM, finished it in 20 minutes. Too easy to exploit.
Mordheim is terribly slow. The mechanics are fine, but the matches just take forever....
You could see if maybe Fallen Enchantress tickles your fancy.
While you do have a city to manage in the campaign, it doesn't really take up much of game time (a bit less than even in Massive Chalice I'd say), you mostly walk around, recruit heroes, follow a simple story and have turn-based battles.

If you want something more humorous, not so deep, not that difficult (might want to pick a harder difficulty right away), you could have a look at Chroma Squad.
It's just a fun little game with weird humor and solid but not amazing tactical combat.

If you want to give up RPG nearly completely I can recommend Chaos Reborn.
Really good mechanics that lead to deep tactics.
No base-building or anything like that.
BUT, and that might rule it out for you: No party.
For me it feels like a mix of Blood Bowl and Magic the Gathering.

FE felt like a generic and rushed 4x
CS: played a couple hours, liked it and for some reason it's been sitting in the backlog since launch
CR: too much random factor, didn't like it at all

Thanks!

Oh, interesting, i'm actually interested in this one, why does it feel unfinished? I thought that it had good feedback from the community.

IIRC, in 0.9 they had 3 classes. When 1.0 was released they doubled that, making them terribly unbalanced. The new features as well feel a bit rushed. And because it's Double Fine, half of the advertised/kickstarted features are missing, pending DLC.

Disapprove everything DF has thrown out of the window in the last couple years :(
