A song of ice and even more ice.

Banner Saga 3 is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com. Pre-order to get the Dredge Ally Pack, which gives you access to Kivi, a rank 10 Dredge Stoneguard with tanking abilities.
The epic turn-based sensation, covered in snow, heroic sacrifices and Norse mythology, is coming to an end. Continue your journey through stunningly drawn landscapes, shape the story with your decisions, and prepare to be challenged every turn of the way in highly tactical, meticulously animated battles.

Get the Deluxe Edition for the Soundtrack and other digital goodies or go for the Legendary Edition, which also includes a digital copy of a novel, an exclusive legendary item, and a heroic title.
Why this pre-order bonus shit? I have the two first games but if you're going this way I will not buy this one.
I doubt they have plans for any story-related DLCs. They didn't do it for the first game, nor for the second.

As for the pre-order bonus, I don't get the outrage. The 1st game had a character exclusive to kickstarter backers, and somehow it was all good. At any rate, my guess is that the bonus hero will not be unique, meaning you will probably be able to recruit a hero of the exact same class (maybe even with the same stats; that was the case in the 1st game) through the story.

Both Banner Saga 1 and 2 are fantastic games worth playing. Can't wait for the conclusion.

The original kickstarter had no in-game exclusives, Tryggvi was a pre-order exclusive character. Kickstarter backers got it because people started complaining about being withheld content after helping fund their game, which is likely to happen again now with those that backed Stoic's second kickstarter or that picked the trilogy tier all the way back in 2012.

One comment is no outrage. :D
I never preorder, I don't care about the additional content, I just think if you are confident in your product you don't need to bait customers to buy something they can't validate.

I don't understand why the devs can't understand that most players want a full game in every part of it, I don't care if the bonus consists of an extra stem of grass or a fly buzzing around the player, the game must be 100% complete and these pre-orders and kickstarter bonuses must cease to exist.
Anyone know if the Trilogy Edition for PS4 is complete with all these bonuses nonsense?

The banner saga 1 did the same, and by no means it was "all good" plenty of backers and fans got mad at stoic because of that.

One would have hoped they had learned by now, it looks the other way around, DLC, pre order exclusive, 3 different release versions/edditions... wow, this is EA and UBISOFT shit, no place for this kind of bad business practices comming from a crowdfunded independed studio.

Fairfox: yah its all bull buuuut big AA(A) companies can sort o' ride taht wave becaaause enuf sheeple will fall/flail at it

buuuut these smaller peeps? i feel they are most! dimbo in all teh wrong wais. sooo not cute dimbo, just silly $$$ lack o' foresight dimbo
NONE should be allowed to pull this shit!

But something like this is expected from money thirsty big companies who care only about bling bling, however if you are an small independent team with none pulling your strings and on top of that your games were actually CROWDFOUNDED then fuck off even more. Indi companies are supposed to be the light at the end of the tunnel, they are supposed to be fighting for making the industry better not following the steps of shitty big companies who care little for their consumer base.
Just a quick intermission to all the pre-order/DLC criticism (I'm not a big fan of either, myself).

Did anyone else notice the "bar counter" display (not sure what to call it) in the orchestra recording session? Looks like a visual click track… for the conductor? Isn't that the job of the conductor? And isn't one of the beautiful things about music recorded life that it isn't perfect, correctly aligned to the dot like a computer would, but that it is dynamic and alive and spontaneous? I guess I just don't really get why people would do things like that, it seems like giving up on much of the reason why one would go for a real orchestra recording in the first place.

They do have plans for story-related DLC. I read it in an interview just last week. Can't find it now but it went like "Now that the trilogy is concluded, what are your plans for the future?" "Er well we don't know yet, there's still DLC and whatnot, we'll see when we get there."

HereForTheBeer: Hmm, listed as Standard Edition, meaning we're going to be hit with periodic add-ons for extra scratch. Think I'll wait for the complete edition.
Very unlikely, none of the previous games got DLCs. And it doesn´t look like accident, but like the direct result of them beeing to busy developing and patching. They´ve already announced to further polish the previous two games over here for better HighRes & HighPPI-Support, so I guess they will keep busy for some time. And given their past success stories on KS they´ll probably shoot for another project after finishing BannerSaga.

To me, it seems strange to use the "edition" term if there is only one planned edition. Especially when combined with "standard", which would imply this is a baseline and other editions will have variations of some sort. But I guess we'll find out. Maybe it is just a play on words, as suggested earlier.

Sounds like you´ve missed the deluxe edition...

Sorry, but I'm about to barf this link all over the most recent news posts because I think this topic deserves more visibility. Given my experiences with GOG during the past year users will be informed after the fact and in a footnote. So go get yourself informed:

Introducing new privacy settings (official "announcement")

You might also want to check your new privacy settings for the upcoming update. Because several users (including myself) had been set to default values that weren't intended - even by GOG.

Saying sorry at the beginning of an action that you know is wrong doesn´t make it good...
