Frequently Asked Questions
-----------------------------------------
1. I've noticed that each champion has abilities, won't that make this game an Overwatch clone?
Each champion has 1 passive and 1 active ability (Sometimes two passives). The game won't feel like an Overwatch clone since Quake Champions concentrates more on your actual skill with your weapons, movement and map control, than relying on abilities to complete something.
All the active abilities have a 40 second cooldown once used, the only way to reduce the cooldown is to collect hourglasses which shortens the time by 10%, they count as items so they will respawn after some time.
2.Why champions have a different health, armor and speed then?
For balance and higher replayability, duh. Some even have a different playstyle based on other Quake games. Such as Slash's Crouch Slide which originates from Quake 4's Multiplayer as an example.
3. But I can still strafe jump to get more speed right?
Yes, you can. But every hero has a speed cap, the speed which shows up in champion's stats actually shows the movement speed. Only Visor has his speed cap removed while strafe jumping.
4. Hold on! You said that the game is f2p. Will it have microtransactions?!
Well, yes. It does, but most of the stuff, besides champions, can be received without spending any real money.
5. Graaah! You have to buy a champion with real money to play?! This is bullshit!
Now hold on there pardner. You can rent a hero for 1 day by using the Favour points which you get in each match, as for getting em permanently (Besides spending real money) you can get em from loot boxes as well.
6. Loot boxes? How am i supposed to get em then?
Two ways, by the store (Backpack can be bought using Favour) while the rest of em can be received by leveling up. The game will show you what kind of loot box you will get.
7. Hey, where's BFG?!
Most likely because there is no point. In Quake 3 Arena the BFG was too op while in Quake Live it's underpowered and most of the time useless.
8. Aight, where do i register?
https://quake.bethesda.net
You need Bethesda's client to play the beta though.
9.Wha?! Bethesda's Client?!
For now. It'll most likely get a Steam release.
10. I wanna know the abilities of those champions!
Ranger (Starter)
Active Ability: Dire Orb - Ranger throws the orb which allows him to teleport around the map, once teleported he throws a quick punch, if it hits the surface it explodes dealing less damage in a small radius.
Passive Ability: Song of a Gun - He is 20% more resistant to self damage.
Slash
Active Ability: Plasma Trail - Slash creates a trail and gains an increased movement speed, once the trail ends. She can detonate em to deal lots of damage, touching the trail deals 4 damage.
Passive Ability: Crouch Slide - From Quake 4. If you are strafe jumping and crouch once you land ,you begin to slide while keeping the speed. You can "drift" and jump away to gain more speed really fast.
Anarki
Active Ability: Health Injection - You heal yourself to the max and increase your max health by 2 in each use.
Passive Ability: Hoverboard Master - It's actually the air control from QuakeWorld. Meaning that you have total control over your movement in the air.
Visor
Active Ability: Piercing Sight - You see all your enemies for 4 seconds.
Passive Ability: Grasshopper - Follows the Quake 3 Arena strafe jumping system. Meaning that the speed is not capped while using a strafe jump
Nyx
Active Ability: Ghostwalk - You are invisible and immune to any damage, heck you can telefrag someone with it once you exit the phasewalk.
Passive Ability: Walljump - It's in the name.
Scalebearer
Active Ability: Bull Rush - You charge at your enemy with a rather limited movement, but you quickly gain a lot of speed. The faster you go, the more damage you dea.
Passive Ability: Heavyweight - Landing next to the enemy or over the head will deal damage.
Clutch
Active Ability: Barrier - You create a barrier which blocks any damage in front of you, it will disappear for you once you start shooting till the ability ends.
Passive Abilities: Still Defense - You are more resistant to any damage if you are walking or standing still
Acceleration - You gain more speed when you move forward without changing the direction
Sorlag
Active Ability: Acid Spit - Sorlag spits an acid which deals a poison damage for 5 seconds and obscures enemy's view on direct hit. It can be used on the ground
Passive Abilities: Bunny Hop - Constant jumping gives you more speed till you change the direction.
Acid Immunity - You are immune to your own or other Sorlag's acid.
Galena
Active Ability: Unholy Totem - Creates a totem which damages the enemy once touched, has a one time heal for you and your ally.
Passive Ability: Channeling - You reduce the cooldown by 5% when you pick up healing items.
11. Will there be more champions?
So far someone datamined the content and found some interesting stuff in it mainly:
-Blazkowicz
-Doomguy/Doomslayer (In Doom 2016 armor)
-Klesk
-Bones
-Keel
