I know that there are some payment topics already but none had any recent comments. Seeing as I haven't had a problem until the last month and based on what I was told by my bank I'm assuming its a new issue.

I recently tried to make a purchase and my debit card was blocked. I've used that same card on GOG for 5 years. It gave me the option to confirm via text from my bank, which I did. I contacted my bank and was told that due to a rise in fraudulent/ unsafe sites that US debit cards could not be run without a PIN. Research has told me that prepaid visa/mastercards will not work outside the US. I tried PAYSAFE while there are no paysafe cards in my area their website said i could use certain branded gift cards. That did not work. I'm wondering if anyone has found a working payment option for the US other than Paypal and GooglePay that is confirmed working in the last couple of weeks?

I feel this is genuine too.

Hi! How about kiwi payment system?
The other thing that is... "relatively" new (I've been here at Gog since near it's beginning, so relatively new for me is... say.. last 5 to 7 years) is that I now use the same card I've always used here at Gog but now get hit with outrageous "foreign transaction fees" that are not insignificant.

I have also noticed cards getting downright declined more often too.

Steam has neither of these issues. Effing bullshit. If they were going to make things hard on one store and not the other they picked the wrong store as far as I'm concerned. lol
Why not just use Paypal?

I don't like using my bank card online. GOG was the one exception because it was the only payment option I had. That's why I would rather not use PayPal or GooglePay. I had a credit card for other online purchases but it''s not accepted by GOG and not an option to use right now with anything else.

OK, so what does that have to do PayPal?

I'd cancelled my Paypal account after 15 years, after they had policy changes i disagreed with.

I have to pay PayPal somehow. Thats just putting my banking info out in more places online.

So use your card? I mean, if you're willing to use it with GOG then there's no reason not to use it with Paypal, which I expect has far better security measures than GOG.

Paypal has the same restrictions as the bank account or credit card that it's connected with.

But if it's only technical difficulties, it's at least worth a try.

No...transfer money to your PayPal balance and pay GOG with that. All your bank or card know is that the money went to PayPal; after that they have no idea what that money is used for and can't block any transactions.
Right, that probably works.

What I described happened at least once to me with direct payments.

Are you saying Paysafe cards no longer work for GOG if you're in the USA?
Hmm, I usually have a balance that I use for GOG purchases, but I've made direct payments with more expensive games here and my bank didn't care. Depends on the bank, I suppose.
I have no problem with GOG, it was something else. Then it was denied, since I locked the site category for my credit card. Paypal somehow forwarded that information.
