Technically solid all around.
I was under the impression that you can put the attachments you unlock on your gun and start each run with a customized gun you want. I was wrong. You start each run with the same base gun and then have to bet on luck that you find the attachments you want in the run - as most attachments mean more damage your dps increases.
Its also hard as nails - you get only health after you beat boss I think - you only get occasional shield.
As there is no difficulty slider, I gotta stop playing this I fear as it's not fun to be so hard.
I have to agree, this is not fun... devs!! those snipers are a pain in the ass lol

Thanks for the info!
Serious question time: Does anyone here actually enjoy it, when devs bury the visuals of their game beneath a dozen layers of chromatic aberration, depth of field, motion blur, distortion, bloom etc. ... ? I don't. Especially when the actual level geometry and art direction seems rather mediocre.

It reminds me of beginner 2D artists who just discovered the image filters in Photoshop and go nuts...

ShadowWulfe: Shit, they no joke rejected them?

tedeee: did GOG actually reject Bullet Witch or was it an issue with licencing? i didn't realise it finally made the switch to PC. the game was a strange little gem as far as i am concerned. i voted for it ages ago. would buy it here in a heartbeat
Devs of Anima said "it's up to GOG", and Bullet Witch got a DRM-free release on Humble, so it seems GOG rejected both.

Thanks for this info, it's as I feared, yet another RNG-artificial difficulty grind-fest forcing dull repetition in order to advance, off my wishlist!
Okay, now I'm able to add this game to my gogmix. But then my gogmix can't be saved. Really strange.

Yep, gogmixes can't be saved, new wishlist votes show up with delays or not at all, forum news posts don't list new replies, chat doesn't work in some browsers... something's going on. And no reaction from GOG on the reports at all.

But apparently they had "forgotten" the regional price hike for this game and were quick to "fix" that...
Ugh, what's with all the animated GIFs on the game pages lately? I mean, there's been the occasional one for a long time, but this game page is just too annoying with all of its animated GIFs. The first one isn't even helpful, it's just a bunch of single words.

Too much like the advertisements that help me feel like never visiting a website that has them ever again. But I'd like to not feel that way about the GOG website, mostly because they have usually had a rather clean layout and non-busy content. But these animated GIFs... They are worse than autoplay videos. Maybe.

In case anyone else wants to get rid of them without eliminating all the other images, this is what works for me in my personal CSS (stylesheet).
img[src$="gif"]{display:none}
The "$=" means it matches "gif" at the end of the source address of an image. However, it's all GIFs, not just animated. So far (um, just today so far) that's just the images in the game description, so that's been fine for me.
Just tried it a bit. Overall, I think the game is quite fun. But I'm since I'm pretty bad at shooters, I can't say if it has enough depth to be worth playing.

I don't think there's enough difference between the VR simulation where the shooting takes place and the real-life world. It doesn't help that the story takes place in the future, making the real-life world less "real". You never really get the feeling of it being in two separate realities, as you do with real VR. That said, the lore stuff in the real world is pretty cozy and interesting. While it doesn't influence the gameplay at all, it does add a bit of flavor. While the FPS action takes place in the VR simulation, some work has been put into creating a believable real-life corporation building, which is almost an exploration game in itself.

A negative point is that the majority of the weapon modules simply changes some stats. Pretty easy to create 150 weapon modules when they just change some values. I had kind of hoped something in the vein of INSIDE A STAR-FILLED SKY which let you create some really outrageous gun combinations. But that may come if I survive slightly longer.

How am I supposed to get a feel for the weapon, when it constantly changes its stats? Not really relevant right now since I suck at shooters, but I fear that this may add an upper limit to how good you can get at this game.

There is a stat called "Accuracy". I'm not sure if this is the random spread of the projectiles or auto aim.

That said, the design choice of letting the player have one single gun, which upgrades totally randomly, is insane enough to earn my respect.

There are four kinds of render modes:
+ Standard (the one you want to stick to)
+ Retro (low res with 8-bit palette)
+ Pixilated (low res)
+ Painterly (ugly)

Even if you turn a lot of the shader effects off, the game still has hypersaturated visuals. But I kind of like it, it's cyberspace after all.

THE KEYS:
ASDW Move
Space JUMP
E Interact
F Offensive ability
R Defensive ability
Shift Movement ability
Q Use item
12345 Select secondary
C Inspect weapon
Tab Map
Mouse1 Fire
Mouse2 Secondary fire
